Secure It Like You Mean It
Funded Apr 16, 2018Thanks to your amazingly generous donations, we are now the proud owners of fifteen mouse controllers to use with our laptop/tablet two in ones. The mouse controllers are Bluetooth compatible and make it easy to connect them to the computer without having to assign specifics controllers to specific computers. We also have a safe lockable container to keep them in. The container has wheels on it for easy maneuvering, doors on each side for easy access and both are lockable, and it has the capability to charge it all at once. You have made the ease of using computers even more of a breeze than before! I cannot express how thankful my students and I are for your help! We could have never accomplished our goal without you!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Childs
Write It Like You Mean It
Funded Mar 27, 2018My students and I truly appreciate the generosity of your donations to our fundraiser. Because of you, we were able to secure the laptop/tablets and use them for an array of classwork in the short time we had them at the end of the year.
During the second semester, we read a class novel, starting in February to coincide with Black History Month. The novel is "The Watsons Go to Birmingham" and is a historical fiction showcasing the damage done during the Civil Rights Era along with the emotional damage done to a family of five who traveled from Flint, Michigan to Birmingham, Alabama. The end of the novel project consists of an eleven page portfolio where students use prior knowledge, information given to them before the novel, and the information they learned from the book. With the computers, students were able to work on the project itself as well as research pertinent information for it.
We also wrote a personal narrative over a time that we were determined to accomplish something. Maybe small like riding a bike or large like overcoming a family death, all the narratives were amazing to read. They were even more amazing because they were able to type them on the computers provided by your donations.
The students have loved the computers! They feel a true sense of responsibility and respect for something that was donated with such love. I cannot wait to use them this next year when I transition to seventh grade.. the grade focused on writing!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Childs
