I teach 29 5th grade students in Indianapolis, IN. Approximately 70% of my school receives free/reduced lunch. I have 5 students who have an IEP. I have a wide range of racial backgrounds. Six students receive LAP (language assistance) services. I also have two students with autism. We write daily and often work in small groups. My students frequently work with each other in small groups and attempt to share their work with others. We also work in small groups with math. We use the chalkboard daily, but students usually don't have the chance to show how they solved their work if they came up with an original idea.
