  • Pre-K Sees The Light! Exploring With A Light Table!

    Funded Apr 22, 2018

Thank you so much for donating to my project, "Pre-K 223 Sees The Light." Because of your generosity, my students can now explore lights, mixing colors, and so much more with the use of a hands-on, engaging device. I also use the light table in my classroom to develop beginning math, Literacy and writing skills. I also use the light table in my classroom for arts and crafts. The children love exploring with the light table. It is the perfect addition to my classroom and I especially enjoy using the light table, with my students, when in our unit of study on light. Thank You again for your generosity.”

  • "BUILDING" Our STEM Skills While Working Cooperatively With Blocks!

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thank you for your generous donations to my project, "BUILDING Our STEM Skills While Working Cooperatively With Blocks!" From birth, children are curious. Because of your generous donations, I can now build my young students natural curiosity by developing their interest in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). I will use these new materials to build STEM skills through play and exploration. Research shows that having a strong foundation in early math can lead to higher achievement in both math and reading later in school. In addition, interacting

with many different materials in early childhood prepares students for science and engineering later in school. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to engage my students in learning through play and exploration.”

  • Pre-K Puts Their Heart Into Art: Building Creativity

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thank you so much for donating to my project, "Pre-K Puts Their Heart Into Art: Building Creativity." Because of your generous donations, the children in my class now have materials to create various art projects. Art experiences are beneficial to my students for many reasons. As children participate in art activities they gain self-confidence, feel pride in their work, and experience success. Art allows children to express strong emotions that they may have difficulty verbalizing. It may provide the child and others with insights into the child's thoughts and feelings, thus allowing for conversation and further discussion. When the paints, peel and stick art accessories, and other art tools were delivered to our classroom the children were very excited. Thank you for bringing a love for art and joy to this center.”

  • Say Cheese!Capturing Smiles While Learning Through Play In Pre-K!

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thank you so much for donating to our class project, "Say Cheese! Capturing Smiles While Learning Through Play in Pre-K!" As you probably know, colored ink can get rather expensive. Due to the high cost for ink, it makes it very hard to print out pictures of my students involved in center activities, class lessons, holiday and special events, trips, etc. Because of your generous donations, I now have enough ink to be able to print out the pictures I have taken, and will continue to take of the students this school year. The pictures will be displayed on the in classroom and outside classroom bulletin boards for students, parents, and staff to see. At the end of the school year, the pictures will be sent home in a memory book. The memory book will serve as a precious keepsake of the students first experience in school. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your donation and for giving me the opportunity to capture these precious moments.”

  • Moving and Shaking in Pre-K!

    Funded Jun 2, 2017

Thank you for your generous donations of CD's, musical instruments, and the activity mats. Children are naturally interested in music, and music is naturally good for children. Music is a language, and children are oriented toward learning language. Music evokes movement, and children delight in and require movement for their development and growth. Music engages the brain while stimulating neural pathways associated with such higher forms of intelligence as abstract thinking, empathy, and mathematics. Music's melodic and rhythmic patterns provide exercise for the brain and help develop memory. Who among us learned the ABC's without the ABC song? Music is an aural art and young children are aural learners. Since ears are fully mature before birth, infants begin learning from the sounds of their environment before birth. Music is perfectly designed for training children's listening skills. Good listening skills and school achievement go hand in hand.

Developmentally appropriate music activities involve the whole child-the child's desire for language, the body's urge to move, the brain's attention to patterns, the ear's lead in initiating communication, the voice's response to sounds, as well as the eye-hand coordination associated with playing musical instruments.Music is a creative experience which involves expression of feelings. Children often do not have the words to express themselves and need positive ways to release their emotions. Music transmits culture and is an avenue by which beloved songs, rhymes, and dances can be passed down from one generation to another.

For all of the above reasons I thank you for bringing music into my classroom. It is greatly appreciated.”
