  • Making It Up

    Funded Jan 14, 2025

Although perfect organization always feels just out of reach, your generous donation has made a huge difference in that journey. There's now almost a place for everything, and everything is slowly finding its place.

The added storage has been a game-changer—allowing materials to be lifted off tables and into designated slots has encouraged students to be more mindful when retrieving and returning supplies.

In a makerspace, there's always a bit of organized chaos, but thanks to your support, it's now much more organized and a little less chaotic.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Scilingo

Thank you for your generous donations to my classroom. I am looking forward to providing quality materials for our students and creating a welcoming space for them to create.

  • Cougars Recycle

    Funded Nov 13, 2024

Thank you so much for your prompt support in helping with our schoolwide recycling program! Thanks to the new cart, bins, and protective measures, our club now has the resources to properly store recyclables before transporting them to the appropriate processing centers. The timing couldn't have been better, as the materials arrived just in time for America Recycles Day activities.

Your generous donations have taught our students that with vision comes the opportunity to explore meaningful solutions. Together, we brainstormed ways to make recycling more accessible to everyone.

It's incredible how everything we ordered fit together perfectly.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Scilingo

  • Paper Craft Storage Solutions

    Funded Feb 25, 2024

By having things organized, students spend less time looking for the materials they need and more time working on their projects. With these storage solutions, students begin to see the benefits of having a place for everything and ideally putting everything back in its place.

Students were able to create paper flowers for mother's day and apply paper craft solutions to their Maker Mart Projects.

Thank you so much for supporting my students and allowing their creativity to flow. The classroom has been enhanced by your generosity.”

  • Celebrate the Lunar New Year of the Dragon STEM Style

    Funded Nov 29, 2023

Thank you for helping my students celebrate the Lunar New Year with the school. Students were able to use the tools to create fun decorations for the Staff Lounge. The glue pens and vellum paper helped for intricate lantern designs.

The resources provided will allow students to transfer the knowledge from this project to other celebrations we may have on campus as well.

Having portable glue guns allowed the students more flexibility in their workspace, while keeping their spaces clean with portable mats. With the different design challenges in the classroom, these tools will come in handy as well.

As the school is trying to build a makerspace club, the materials will be useful trying to get more and more students engaged in creating a celebratory community across the campus.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Scilingo

  • Keep It Clean

    Funded Nov 8, 2023

Thank you so much for helping the students keep our workspaces clean. As there are many shared spaces and tools, it is important for them to have ways to efficiently and effectively work as well as prepare for others to use the same space.

With clean rolls of paper, silicone mats, and cutting surfaces, students can work with tools that may lead to organized chaos, but in the end they learn to bring order back to the space.

The materials you helped provide allowed the students to see that there are other people thinking about how to keep workspaces clean. The industrial materials help students to be better prepared for a professional environment in the future..”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Scilingo

This classroom project was brought to life by General Motors & Young Sheldon on CBS and one other donor.
  • Project Linus - Providing Security Through Blankets

    Funded Sep 21, 2023

This project allowed students to spend some of the lunch times socializing with one another while creating blankets to give away. Students were able to create 25 blankets to donate to Project Linus. There were over 30 students who worked on this project.

In groups, the students were able to cut, measure, and tie each blanket with care. The new scissors made this process easier.

The tags were machine sewn on the little corner to make a nice finishing touch.

It was rewarding to hear that some students wanted to go home and make a blanket for themselves. They learned what they created together could be applied in the future.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Scilingo

  • Lifelong Learner

    Funded Mar 22, 2023

Thank you so much for supporting my professional development. Through the reading of books that help me be are more equity focused educator, I look forward to building empathy for my students.

As a science teacher, much of my reading is technical information. Exploring the new science of teaching has been refreshing. I often comment how teaching today is not like when I first started over 20 years ago.

Finding myself in positions of leadership, I felt that I needed to increase my perspective on the changing education climate.

    Thank you for this opportunity.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Scilingo

  • Recycling Rewards

    Funded Feb 24, 2023

We were finally able to run some recycling activities during lunch and had so much fun. Thanks to your donations for prizes, students were actively engaged in seeing how Recycling can be fun. They played Aluminum can bowling, marker toss, and can crushing.

The students were able to make buttons and began to think about how the parts of the button could be made of recyclable materials.

Because the students took ownership of leading the activities, I could sit back and just monitor. It was great!

Thanks again for supporting my class in these hands on activities outside of a classroom!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Scilingo

Middle school students have busy bodies and need active projects to engage in. When students are given open ended design challenges, organized chaos arises, but productive learning results. In order to balance the pandemonium of consumable supplies and foster forward creative thinking, the students need materials readily accessible and tools for its intended purposes. Students often use classroom scissors to cut or poke holes in thick cardboard whereas cardboard scissors or cutters and screwdrivers would be safer and more appropriate. Tape of all sorts have been used to secure materials together instead of a hammer or nail, or cutting slits in cardboard to form joints. In order to measure or calculate the length of larger projects, students have laid multiple meter sticks side by side instead of using a tape measure. The clear storage bins would allow all students to easily see the materials available so that they all can use them and return them to their proper locations. By donating to this project, you can help unlock the creativity of the next generation as they build their future.
