  • Anatomy in Clay

    Funded Apr 2, 2024

The professional development online class of Anatomy in Clay has totally revamped my class. The information I gathered, along with the tools really moved me to change up how I teach Anatomy and Physiology.

Because I took this class, I saw the benefit of using my hands to build various parts of the human body on their models. I could really see how the individual parts work together to make a functioning unit, and knowing that this would really step up my students learning.

This school year, I was able to purchase 2 models to use for my classroom. I am looking to purchase 2 more at least for next school year. Thank you so much for giving to this project so that I can further develop my students understanding.”

  • Muscles Come to Life

    Funded Jan 29, 2022

What an amazing and fun tool the skeletons were while we were studying muscles. The students named their skeletons, and the class was energized in making the muscles from clay and attaching. I felt that this project allowed the students more flexibility in learning the names, insertions, origins and functions of the muscles, without having to "dissect" anything. I had a lot more engagement in the daily lessons of the muscles and can clearly say that their scores on quizzes for each muscle group was higher than in previous years.

Again, thank you so very much for your donation!”

  • Aquafarming for the Win!

    Funded Jul 24, 2021

We have recently set up our tabletop aquaponics system. We are cycling the water and will be adding fish and plants over the next couple of weeks. My environmental science students are the ones who will be in charge of the system, yet all my classes are excited to see the progress! Every day they are looking to see what more has been added. I have placed a venus flytrap on the top as added entertainment even though it is winter.

Over the next few months we will monitor water quality, and see how our plants grow. This is a great live experiment that is sure to keep us busy!”

  • Little Particles, Big World

    Funded Feb 11, 2021

I cannot thank you enough for the spectrum carousel and gas tubes. We had old, very breakable tubes and the machine we had didn't hold onto the tubes well anymore, making it hazardous. When I received the spectrum carousel, and showed it to the same students they were so excited. It was a better product, and allowed the students more time to actually see the gas light up. I am very thankful for a much safer product, as I was worried about the broken glass, and the electricity.

We use the gas spectrum tubes to talk about how elements have different "fingerprints" or colors that the electrons give off when stimulated with electricity. This is a visual representation of those particles!!

    Thank you again!”

  • Accessories for the Activpanel

    Funded Aug 1, 2019

Thank you for your donation to help set up my Promethean Active Panel. It did not come with a mount, and the hardware to use it successfully in my classroom. Now the panel is mounted in the center of the room, and we have used it to mirror the students chromebooks through Activcast. I have used the software that displays through the hardware, such as casting graph paper write to my screen. It also includes venn diagrams, a set periodic table, and coordinate planes.

The Promethean Board is replacing an outdated SmartBoard, and so having the accessories are important for the board to work properly and for all the students to see was a priority.

Again, thank you for your donation to support my classroom.”

  • Sick Smartboard Needs a Retirement Plan

    Funded Jun 5, 2019

Our ActivPanel arrived today!!! WE are so excited to be able to upgrade our smartboard and see the vivid picture instead of a dull barely visible picture. The 10 points of touch will make it so interactive as we were just trying to do some hidden pictures for our mystery class, and the students had to take turns finding objects. This new technology will allow my students more opportunities use and projects that can utilize this board. The activepanel will mirror their chromebooks, they can split the screen and play at the same time, and will be seen from the entire classroom without turning off the lights. Again thank you so much!!”

  • 1:1 Is Good, Clean FUN!

    Funded Jun 5, 2019

Having student being able to use their own individual chromebook allows students to work at their own pace, and encourages responsibility. I cannot believe how well student work when they are using their own chromebooks, versus sharing with students. They are so intent on getting through their projects, and learning new technology, and they are even teaching me a few things on the chromebooks too. Currently in summer class the students are using these chromebooks to build Lego Mindstorm robots, identifying insects, and calculating data for a mystery. Thank you so much for the chromebooks!”

  • Neulog Sensor Flexibility

    Funded Feb 14, 2019

The neulog sensors are great! These plug and play sensors are used in every one of my classes from environmental science to anatomy and physiology. Having the ability to be portable makes using them even more interactive. We can take them outside, and gather data in the field when we are doing water quality studies. We can exercise outdoors and measure carbon dioxide and oxygen levels right there.

My students were and are excited when it is time to use the neulog sensors. The use of such innovative technology gives students an insight into how it may be to work in a lab somewhere. The real-time data and graphing gives students immediate results and feedback.

Thank you so much for your generous donation to our neulog sensor project!!”

  • Lego Mindstorms For Our Prospective Engineers!

    Funded May 7, 2018

We are so excited to use the Lego Mindstorms this school year. With the add on programs of space and science, we have already started playing around with the temperature sensors in our AP Environmental Science class. Our 8th grade science class is looking forward to building a Mars rover, and experimenting with gears, "sampling" the Mars environment, and building a communication center. The Lego Mindstorms robot building competition will be later this year, but the student are already gearing up to build and code these awesome robots!!”

  • Builing Engineers With Lego Mindstorms

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thank you so much for the Lego Mindstorms Kit. My students were so excited to see the kit show up. As you can see from the first picture, Faith was super excited to try it out. I recently attended a workshop that taught me how to use the kits. When I told the students about it, they were pumped to get the opportunity to try robotics. At the workshop, I won a book on making the different types of robots. Students have been looking through the book to see what all they can make.

Recently another donor also helped me purchase more Lego Mindstorms, so now we will be able to have an entire class work with the robots. This will be a great opportunity for my future engineers. I have been so blessed with the donors, and couldn't be more thankful!!”

My students range from 8th grade through seniors, and are a great, fun, and interesting mix. We are a small farming community, where the high school has less than 100 students and there are less than 300 in the whole school. This is a great school, that allow the teachers flexibility to work on projects and incorporate many types of learning in our rooms. The students come into my classroom looking for the lizards and it helps get them excited to come to class.
