Fantasy & Reality
Funded May 27, 2023The fact that you funded my classroom project so quickly is a testament to your sheer generosity and your belief in a strong and engaging education for today’s students. For that, I thank you humbly and am so excited to share all the wonderful things they learn and do with these resources when they receive them. Of course, they thank you, too!”

Timeless Tomes
Funded Aug 9, 2022Thank you again for the amazing, culturally-relevant books that feature BIPOC protagonists and anti-racist themes. Through daily read-alouds, my students explore their stories, their struggles, their triumphs, and their values. They have enhanced their listening skills and their empathy, while being moved to action in their school and community.
As well, we include the themes from the books into our lesson activities, which give students the opportunity to think critically and elevate their voices during whole group discussion.
All students love this collection, but I've found that the students of color in my classroom are particularly enamored with the books because they say they can identify with the characters and the experiences they have. Plus, the mix of novels and graphic novels is superb!”
With gratitude,
Mr. Schulman

Funded Aug 12, 2021Thanks to your generosity, our absolutely GORGEOUS "Spirit of Truth" classroom carpet has been a treasure for my students. "Can I sit on the carpet?" has been the most asked question this year. Whether it's listening to a read-aloud, watching a video on our Smartboard, copying a teaching point, working with a partner or in a group work, dancing, rapping, or chilling, the carpet is THE PLACE to be. And what's even more beautiful is how my students have treated each other while using it — taking turns with each other and giving each other their own space too. Now my colleagues are inquiring where they can get a carpet as nice as this one. I tell them that if they have as kind and generous donors as I have with you, their wishes will come true!”

Funded Aug 22, 2021Wow, we're these 4th graders EXCITED to receive these jumbo-sized, flex-space floor chairs for their classroom! They are adjustable, soft, by sturdy, and oh-so-comfy!!! Students use them most during their "SKILLS" period to chill out a bit while learning some grammar - or what we call "GRAMMA-TIME!" (Instead of Hammer-Time, get it??)
Anyway, they also sit on the floor chairs to get closer to the Smartboard to write the aims of their lessons, and then use clipboards to work on their writing pieces. They can see each other better like this, and they maneuver their fuzzy green chairs in the positions that help them feel most comfortable to learn!
Finally, they absolutely love their Scholastic News Magazine class subscription! It gives them soooo much knowledge and information on all the relevant and current topics of the day! Plus, my students share tidbits about history with me from the mags that spark their curiosity and relate to themselves and their world. I'm so grateful to all of you generous donors for providing these amazing resources for my classroom and my students! WE THANK YOU!!! 😊”

Try These Triangles!
Funded Jun 4, 2020I hope this note finds you well and safe! Needless to say, it has been a whirlwind of an academic year, what with remote learning, blended learning, and in-person learning, which I've participated in throughout. So, because of that and social-distancing rules, I could not immediately include the triangular, space-flex, rolling desks into my optimal classroom setup. Fast-forward just a bit, and I plan on utilizing them in all kinds of creative ways to ensure my students can either sit, stand, move and yes, collaborate! My students are so resilient and strong, and they participate fully in all class decisions. They will be thrilled to show you their new learning environment as it takes shape in the months to come. In the meantime, just know that you've made a huge difference in their lives by supporting their needs educationally, emotionally, and socially.”

This classroom project was brought to life by SONIC Drive-In and 34 other donors. The Brownsville Binners Will Add Tech To Their Team!
Funded Mar 13, 2018The technology we received (the awesome 32GB i-pad) has given my students another tool to promote the lessons they've learned in Civics class - particularly as they concern the environment and sustainability. As members of our school's Green Team, they have researched issues that have come to their attention at their school and in their community that they are seeking to address and solve.
They've taken amazing photos of students in action helping out their peers in all phases of recycling, including in the classroom, lunchroom, and outside. They have used the i-movie app to produce video-clips of their success, and promote it on the Internet for other kids to get inspired.
It's been exciting for students in all grades I teach (from K-5th) to have been able to use the I-pad for their class needs. They especially love playing a game (Well, I really think it's a learning tool, but what do I know?) called "I-Civics" where they get to be a character that takes school, community and world problems into their own hands. They plan out their agenda, think about what obstacles they might face, and then find something that works. It's great to see their smiles when their ideas become successes!”

Magnificent Minerals
Funded Jul 6, 2016The students really enjoyed learning about and interacting with the beautiful minerals! They are studying their properties, conducting experiments with them and discovering just how essential they are to our environment -- past, present and future.
They will continue to use the minerals throughout the unit. It seems like the topic is sparking an interest that the children didn't even know they had! Thanks so much for all of the magnificent minerals and accompanying charts and diagrams!
We know that the minerals kit is ideal for learners who may not always want to read something or whose reading is still improving. So the rocks and minerals are the perfect way for tactile learners to benefit. Thank you so much! We have enjoyed!”

Bikes For The Boardwalk!
Funded Apr 23, 2016Your generosity in funding my Bikes For the Boardwalk project was truly humbling. The students rolled the new bikes around their classroom. Shhh! Please, don't tell! But soon, they will be riding them outside in the beautiful Spring weather! Many of the students do not have bicycles to ride and have fun with. So the 6 bicycles that were purchased have gone a long way to helping students become active, fit and responsible owners.
When the students first saw the shiny, new bicycles, they got so excited! They will be able to sign up to use them and to bring their own bicycles to school too. The program has encouraged others to ride to school and to start a P.S. 90 bicycle club.
In the future, students will be responsible for maintaining and fixing the bicycles, so they can learn and pass down their knowledge to other students.”
