Skating Into the New Year!
Funded Jan 28, 2022Thank you for your generous gift! We have already had a group from RMS walk over to the rink. I engraved under each skate so all that use them know they were donated by generous DonorsChoose donors! I am excited to be with when a group walks over - being able to ensure full participation is such a relief. RMS students work so hard, we love rewarding them with fun experiences! Skating has been a great stress reliever for many kids and community members. Our kids need new experiences and activity more than ever - thank you for providing them with this!”

Funded Jan 19, 2022Thank you for rounding out our supplies for a few upcoming projects! The paint pens will be used in two 6th grade projects - graffiti fences and BotJoy dominoes. Students will create a joy domino and share it with someone or hide it around the community. The paint pens allow us to have clean, precise lines. A few more Create This Book copies allow me to run our yearly journaling project with my 8th graders this spring. Makerspace organization and puzzles keep things interesting through the end of the year and allow me to rotate out supplies cleanly. Finally, Yes Paste is going to be amazing for our upcoming bookmaking! I used it in an example and couldn't believe how great it was - thank you for providing my students with quality materials that will make their art last a long time. We appreciate you!”

Art Room Basics
Funded Jan 14, 2022YES! Pencils! Glue Sticks! Sharpies! and more! Thank you for restocking our basic art room needs. We are heading into a few lessons that heavily use the donated supplies. Book making for 6th and 7th grade uses many of these materials. Last year we ran out and struggled to get enough (we did a little begging around the school). Thank you for stocking us up and allowing us to seamlessly continue to create. We appreciate your kindness and generosity towards our classroom. What a gift! Thank you!”

Jealous of Our Gelli (Printmaking)
Funded Jan 1, 2022Thank you for your generosity towards my art students. We cannot wait to Gelli print! We are hoping to try out many different techniques, colors, and methods. My students saw the boxes arrive to my classroom and looking forward to a new art experience. Thank you for helping us give this to them. Middle school can be a tough time for creating - students can be self conscious of their art and can hold back ideas. I am hoping the Gelli printing experience allows them to loosen up, see that art is made in so many ways, and it's okay to make mistakes! Thanks for your donation!”

Magnificent Makerspace!
Funded Nov 18, 2021We are SO excited! Kids LOVE having access to new Makerspace supplies and activities! They have already been working on diamond art, made Lego creations, utilized gel pens, and more. Our Makerspace is such a well loved and cared for space in our art room, I can't imagine not having it. Early finishers, kids that need a chill space/break, kids that would normally not choose a learning activity all gravitate towards our Makerspace. We have cards with instructions set up for each activity, bins are clearly labeled, and kids are great about returning supplies to their homes. I rotate out activities every 3 weeks. Doing this allows students fresh activities that they won't get bored with. Thank you for contributing to our classroom and helping our art room run smoothly!”

Funded Dec 1, 2021Students watched me unpack boxes the other day and asked why I had ordered sweatpants and undergarments. I explained that sometimes we have spills, accidents, tears, and more...and sometimes we all don't have access to clean, well fitting clothing. They agreed that many of us have experienced any one of these things and we don't want to be without. Everyone should be able to be comfortable and safe at school. Thank you for contributing to our closet restock project. I am working on organizing the closet, sorting, hanging up supplies, and placing them in bins. This will make it better accessible to our office staff and school counselor should anyone need anything. Thank you for making our students feel welcome. You are appreciated!”

Funded Dec 30, 2021Thank you so much for contributing to our classroom. My students are so excited to dive into colored pencil drawing in a few weeks. We talk a lot in class about quality supplies, treating supplies with care and respect, and proper use and storage of supplies. My students are so great with this! Prismacolor colored pencils are top tier colored pencils and my students know they are lucky to have access to such great supplies. The sharpeners will help us care for them properly. We will start out with learning how to blend and overlap these colors. Then we move on to colored pencil candy drawings. Kids do such a great job blending and overlapping colors when the colors are so rich and vibrant! Thank you for providing us this fantastic opportunity!”

Funded Oct 24, 2021Thank you for helping us provide treats and snacks to keep us going throughout the day! Students are always hungry and it is nice to have a cupboard full of snacks to share. Many of our students have sports practices and clubs after school. I am yearbook adviser and that is a great time to share with them as we reset after a long day and prep for 1.5 hours of computer work.
Each month, our homeroom time is extended - this is my favorite time to share snacks and their favorite hot beverage with them. Our next one is coming up - look for pictures next week!
Thanks again for your help! You are appreciated!”

Funded Aug 25, 2021Thank you so much for giving my students the opportunity to give back to our community. We have just finished packing up our finished bowls and each Veteran will receive one after our district's Veterans Day assembly. Students took great care in creating their bowls. We let them dry for a few weeks, I fired them in our kiln, and then we glazed them red, yellow, and black. Students were eager to see them come out of the kiln! We spent a day creating a handmade card for each. Students wrapped up the bowls with tissue paper, placed them in a hand stamped brown bag, and tied it together with a ribbon. They did an amazing job! Some of the bowls will be going home with students to gift to a parent, neighbor, family friend, or relative who was a part of the service. Others will be passed on this Thursday, as mentioned above. Thank you for helping us honor our local heroes. We appreciate you!”

Funded Jul 22, 2021As we prepare for our new school year, I am so thankful for funding on this project. Little did I know when I wrote this, there is still importance of continuing protocols from last year (as much as possible). Being able to continue to have our own supplies in our binders will save us time, but also allow us to keep our supplies just how we want them (and not have to share). Last year, students were so careful with their own pencils and colored pencils and kept them safe in their art binders. We will continue this practice for years to come. Students were much more respectful and responsible with art supplies. Thank you for providing us with the basics we need to have another successful year! You are appreciated!”
