The books purchased will be used to specifically engage my students in independent reading. I want my students to get excited about reading and to figure out what they like and don't like when it comes to a text. I want them to be able to quit a book and choose another one that interests them. I want my students to understand that are lots of books out that they can connect with and they have the power to choose. But I need lots of current, exciting books for my students to interact with. I want a variety of engaging, relevant texts that students can CHOOSE from and figure out what they enjoy and don't enjoy when it comes to reading. I ultimately want to create lifelong readers who don't see reading as a chore, but as a pleasure.
