  • Displays for Diverse Books and Bookmarks

    Funded Mar 4, 2025

Students are able to see themselves in the books they read. They love books that represent them and their stories. Diverese books help everyone understand each other. Students check-out books each week and your donations helped transform their choices!

Representation in books empowers and supports students' academic success. My goal is that students see themselves in the books they read. Our population is wonderfully diverse and thus our books should be as well. Diverse books give students an opportunity to read about lives different than theirs. Diverse books will help all of my readers. Thank you so very much for helping my students see themselves as the successful and smart scholars they are with books and imaginative play that open doors and windows.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Rae

  • Place to Read

    Funded Feb 13, 2025

Students use their new couch everyday. Our library is certainly a busy place and books come first. Students may choose any book(s) they want and then sit down and to read and relax. We finally have enough couches for students to sit on couches during storytime! This helps our older students feel comfortable and ready to learn. At our school, we pride ourselves for purchasing books that represent our diverse student body in engaging and fun stories. Students love coming to the library each week.

Your generous gift helped our library support belonging and be inclusive for all of our students. Having a place to read supports our students when creating a strong sense of belonging and pride in their school, their library, and their reading.

Thank you for giving students a place to read. While you may never meet them in person, please know how appreciative our students are as am I, for your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Rae

    Funded Feb 6, 2025

Thank you so much for the snare stand! It helps us make music in the Library! We use it everyday and the students love singing while I make the beat!

THANK YOU! Again! I couldn't imagine how much fun adding a drum to our lessons would be!

Now we have more music in our storytelling! This helps our books and our stories come alive!

Also bookmarks. Sometimes I think kids check-out books to get bookmarks. Whatever help gets those books in their hands.

You are helping readers read and students soar! We couldn't do it without you!

    Thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

Creating stop motion videos supports students creativity and gives them an authentic audience of whom to share their ideas. Stop motion videos support students in the beginning of the writing process as story starters and at the end to make their writing come alive. Students will use the iPads, along with free stop motion apps, to create their stories. Students will use their Legos as stop motion stands and as characters. The Lego characters also support students' role playing and empathy skills. I am requesting two iPads and Legos characters and blocks for my students. Students learn more when they can truly create. Stop motion video gives students a chance to move from pen and paper towards film making. As the librarian, I would make this a kit and teach it to students in grades K-5. Students of all elementary grades can learn and grow while creating videos.
