New Newspaper Needs Supplies!
Funded Oct 19, 2009Thank you so much for donating to this project. My students were absolutely thrilled to receive digital cameras, laptops, and resource books for our school newspaper. Your donations have made it possible for our newspaper production to begin and for students to use new, up-to-date technology in the classroom.
Your thoughtful donations have helped provided necessary technology that is lacking in our school and that our students did not have access to in the past. We are so excited to begin using this technology and new resources in our classroom. I know that my students are very appreciative of your donations and the ability to work on the school newspaper.
Thank you again for your support of our school newspaper, student journalism, and public schools. Please continue to support education and schools; it means so much to our students.”

Ms. Schaefer

Funded Oct 23, 2009Thank you so much for your donation to my project. My students had an amazing time reading Sold and were outraged with the treatment of young girls around the world. The unit focused on child labor, human rights issues, and advocacy for marginalized groups and students had strong reactions to the treatment of Lakshmi, the main character in Sold, as well as women around the world.
Through this book, students were able to recognize the issues facing women and girls around the world and were exposed to real-world issues happening today. In addition to reading Sold, students read newspaper articles, watched videos, and became experts on the issues of human rights, human trafficking, and sex slavery.
Thank you again for providing us with the Sold books. My students absolutely loved the book and I truly appreciate your donation.”

Funded Jul 29, 2009Thank you so much for donating to this project. My students were thrilled to received these new books for our classroom library. Now, when students have independent reading, they have a wide variety of books to choose from. The new books are interesting and are keeping students engaged in reading. My students are so happy to have many different, and new, options to select from when picking books for reading.
Your donation has allowed our classroom library to grow and helped my students branch out and read current and interesting books. They love many of the new books and are always talking about reading, sharing new books, and begging for more time to read during the week. In addition, many students have asked to borrow books to take home and read on their own personal time. This is a major accomplishment and demonstrates how these new books are helping to promote reading!
Thank you again so much for these excellent books, which have provided my students with the opportunity to not only further their love of reading but also to develop the habits of good readers that are essential as they continue to prepare for college. I truly appreciate all of your assistance and though in donating to my project. Thank you again.”

My students have been thrilled with all of the new books in our classroom library and have been enjoying reading them during our silent independent reading three times a week. Ever since the books arrived, the boys in my classroom have had access to a wide variety of books and are reading voraciously during reading time.
Your donations have allowed me to add books to our classroom library that engage and interest my students, especially the boys. The Cirque du Freak series, Matt Christopher books, and other sports-themed books have been a great hit and I have definitely seen an increase in the number of boys reading successfully during reading. Currently, the containers that hold the books students are reading are filled with the new books purchased with your help and assistance.
