Color Our World!

We recently took a field trip to the Peabody Museum and the photos came out beautifully!!! The students have worked so hard on their dinosaur lapbooks and we were able to print all of the materials for the lapbooks in color. The children are so proud of their work. Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness.”

Don't Be a Bully!!!
Funded Dec 30, 2011I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for supporting our project. I created a Anti-Bullying theme that was taught during the week of Valentine's Day, and my students created beautiful and powerful anti-bullying posters. Our posters are displayed in the main hallway of our school and they make a simple but important statement, "Don't be a Bully!" Thanks to you, the students were able to choose from a variety of paper colors. Their posters were also laminated to allow their work to be preserved to stay displayed for the remainder of the school year. The best thing is that we were able to get the conversation started. The students were talking about bullying, empathy, and action. Thank you so much for giving the students this beautiful learning experience. ”

TAG Leapfrog for Reading!!!
Funded Jan 18, 2012I want to thank you for supporting my classroom project and bringing TAG readers to our classroom. TAG readers are an awesome tool for students to help them with their decoding, comprehension and fluency skills. It allows my students to read and enjoy a book independently. The children are engaged by the child friendly technology and they enjoy the stories and activities. My students have special needs and they require lessons, activities and tasks that are multisensory. As a special education teacher, I am constantly looking for different approaches when teaching reading. These materials support and enrich our traditional reading program.
Thank you for supporting my students and I through Donors Choose. You have truly touched the lives of many students with special needs for many years to come. ”

Funded Dec 21, 2011I want to take a moment to thank you for supporting this project. The students have been learning about animals and are so captivated and engaged by them. I have found a theme that truly motivates the students to research, read, and write. Each student has learned something new about animals that they did not know before. They have become experts because the materials are child friendly and the animal facts are easy to read and understand. This has allowed my students the ability to work and research independently about their favorite animal.
It is difficult for my students to create research based projects because they have special needs. Reading and writing tasks are very difficult for my students. These materials have really given my students access to the world of animals. I thank you so much for caring about my students and giving them the chance to succeed!!!”

Dino-mite!
Funded Dec 8, 2011Thank you so much or your generous donations! Our class is well into our dinosaur theme and the students are extremely excited with everything they have learned so far. Our culminating activity will be to erupt our volcano!! The students are anxious to see this live demonstration in the classroom! My students have learned so much from the fossil interpretation kit. They have sketched fossils and written sentences and paragraphs describing the fossils. The materials really are helping the students to understand and retain the information that they read because everything is so visual and hands-on.
I can't thank you enough for your support of this project. The children are learning so much and are motivated to read, write, and explore the wonderful world of dinosaurs!!!”

Explore the Rainforest!!!
Funded Dec 20, 2011I thank you so much for funding our rainforest project. The materials are so amazing and the students are completely excited to learn about the rainforest! The children will benefit from the rainforest animals and habitat because it will provide that visual support that is essential to their understanding. The games and books will allow the students to work in small groups or independently to review and reinforce what they know. The photo library is going to allow the students to learn facts and see animals from all parts of the world! I know that these materials will be a huge motivator for them.
You have given these students the opportunity to thoroughly learn about the rainforest. Students will special needs can learn, but they require alternative methods, additional support, and appropriate resources. Thanks to you, our students will have the most optimal learning environment.”

Phonics, Reading, and Writing: Done "Easel"-y
Funded Nov 24, 2011Thank you so much funding our easel project. I have uploaded some photos so that you can see the impact that it has already had on my students! They love writing and are so eager to participate and use the materials. The magnetic strips allow us to organize the ideas that we brainstorm and stick them on to the board allowing everybody's ideas to be seen and included. The students love to use the different colored markers to categorize, sort and sequence their ideas on the chart paper and easel. It has allowed me to provide that visual support for the students that they require in order to grasp new material presented to them.
I can't express how grateful I am for your support. My students and I are so thankful for giving us such wonderful and high quality materials for our classroom! ”
