I believe that giving the student control over their bodies allows them to feel more in control during the day and that allows me to spend more time on teaching and less time on correcting their behaviors. Flexible seating will allow my students to feel in control of their learning. Over the years I have noticed that my students are more focused and engaged when I allow them to move. Sometimes a child is distracted by a neighbor or they can not see from where they are seated. I have found that if I allow them to move to a spot that works for them they tend to be more engaged and in turn learn more and produce better work.
