This year, I am driven to provide my students with exciting and creative learning experiences following Hurricane Harvey. My students are divided into 8 rows in my classroom and because of this they are split into 8 groups when we do group work. The 8 microscope cases and art supplies will be used to observe in the microscopic world around us and the art supplies will be used to create a visual representation of what they see in the microscopes. Giving my low-income students that have been affected by Hurricane Harvey experiences unlike anything they have participated in before will excite them about learning and will set a building block for future growth. My students will go on a nature walk and gather various samples from the school grounds. We will spend time talking about what makes up the world around us. The students will then be able to use the microscopes to explore the microscopic details of the samples. After the students view their samples, they will work together to create a visual representation of the samples viewed. The visuals created will be displayed in the hallways of the school to show others what they are learning.
