  • Supporting Our English Learners

    Funded Apr 7, 2022

Thank you very much for your donations to this project! I appreciate your generosity. I know that your commitment to our students will be felt by all; students always benefit when we are able to go above and beyond the usual for them. Thank you so much for your support.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. F.

  • Celebrate Our Hard Work

    Funded Feb 25, 2022

Thank you so much for contributing to this project! We have our celebration coming up on March 11th and I am so grateful to have these items to give students as a reward for doing their best on our ESL standardized assessment. This year has been difficult and donations like yours make it easier for all of us. Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. F.

  • English Learner Bulletin Board

    Funded Mar 16, 2021

Thank you so much for your donations to our ESL program. I am so grateful for folks like you who are so generous with our students. I can’t wait to receive the materials and to set up our bulletin board to show how proud we are of our bilingualism.

    Thank you!!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. F.

  • Warm Hats!

    Funded Nov 1, 2020

As you know, this year has been exceptional for so many reasons. One of the unforeseen challenges we're facing is teaching from classrooms with open windows. As the temperatures have dipped, I am so grateful to be able to offer warm hats to students. They wear these as they walk up to two miles to school as well as during class to stay warm. They make the difference between cold and sick students, and healthy warm learners.

I am so appreciative of your donations that have made this possible! Thank you so much.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. F.

  • Help Us Learn to Love to Read!

    Funded Jul 25, 2020

Thank you for your generous donations to my English Language Learners. Because of your funding, I was able to purchase books in Spanish for my students so that they can continue to build their home language skills while honing their English. I am so excited to have these resources. While I am not able to give students books at this moment, I look forward to the day when I can share these incredible texts with them. In the meantime, I use them as a reminder of the people who support my and my colleagues' work daily.

Thank you again for your donations.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. F.

  • Free Writing, Free Minds

    Funded Jul 15, 2020

Thank you so much for your generous donations to our program. Our students are so lucky to have supporters like you!

Given that we have started our school year remotely, I am not yet using these notebooks with students. However, we will certainly put these notebooks to good use when we are allowed to teach in person again. I cannot wait to welcome students back into the building and to have small gifts for them when we see each other again.

Once more, thank you so much. Your generosity means a lot!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. F.

  • Wireless Mice

    Funded Dec 1, 2020

Thank you so much for funding this project! We were able to distribute the wireless mice to all our English Learners on our vocational campus. They were thrilled to receive them and noted how helpful they were going to be. For students who are not coming into the building, we made home visits to make sure every student got their mouse.

Again, thank you so much for your donation. I know there are many worthwhile causes to which to donate these days and I am grateful that you have chosen to invest in our students.”

  • Warm Clothes for Newcomers!

    Funded Sep 17, 2020

Thank you so very much for your donations. This is an exceptional year for so many reasons and, to be able to educate our Newcomers in person, we have to teach with our windows open. We haven't hit the worst of it yet and the temperatures in the mornings are already in the 30s.

I have handed out dozens of hoodies, coats, hats, and gloves and students are so thankful. They know these are things they need to survive the winter and yet their families, who have arrived in Massachusetts in the last year, often do not have the resources to purchase these expensive items, especially as they are struggling to pay rent, utilities, and basic necessities.

Because of people like you the world is a better place. Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. F.

  • Being Well During Remote Learning

    Funded Dec 1, 2020

I know there are many worthwhile causes to donate to these days and I am truly grateful that you have chosen to support the 230 English Learners in my program. These students have worked so hard and overcome so many challenges since March; this will be one way to recognize all the things they’ve been doing. Thank you so much!”

  • Winter Coats

    Funded Sep 23, 2020

Thank you so much for your generosity in donating to this project. I know there are many worthwhile causes to give to and I truly appreciate your choosing mine. I so look forward to being able to give students the clothing they need to be healthy and ready to learn.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. F.

I work at a public high school in Massachusetts that serves students who have, in many cases, not seen much academic success. As a school, we strive to make learning as interesting and relevant as possible. We also emphasize college and career readiness, doing project based learning throughout the four years and partnering with local colleges and universities to give students a taste of college life. I teach 9th grade ESL at the high school. Most of our students come from Puerto Rico although we do have students from other countries. Most have arrived in Massachusetts within the last year, following the hurricane and its aftermath. Students take mainstream classes (with lots of language support) and then have ESL classes with me during which we do a lot of reading, writing, and speaking as well as learn new vocabulary every day.
