My classroom is somewhat bare and needs some TLC. Other than desks we don't have an area to congregate for meeting times. I'm hoping that small carpets could double as seating areas and for activities. I also try integrating music and song for a safe learning environment. The two tambourines that I use with my class help my students emotionally, cognitively, and boosts their self confidence. I have 6 spots that i put down for a perimeter, I've noticed they feel more relaxed and safe knowing where to sit to sing which ignites more participation and learning. Music is the bridge between learning and life. Whether its trouble in counting, letters names/sounds, high frequency words, or learning about the planets, the fear seems to alleviate once my tambourines are out for the lesson. Instruments will enhance our environment in the classroom as we explore through the day to day challenges of kindergarten.
