  • Help Ramp Up Our Learning!

    Funded Jan 7, 2018

Thank you for the ramp and ball set for our block area! My first graders love playing, experimenting, and exploring with the set. When we first opened the box, they couldn't wait to get started. In science, we are learning about simple machines like the ramps in this set. Hands-on exploration with this set helps children get a deep understanding about ramps. They can experiment with their incline to make balls rolls at different speeds and explore concepts like gravity and friction. Thank you for your generosity!”

  • Supplies for Kids to Thrive!

    Funded Sep 21, 2017

It's with sincere gratitude that I say thank you for donating to this project! Your generous donation allowed us to get a step-stool and writing easel. These items are essential to our classroom. Children use the step-stool throughout the day to wash hands, paint cups, fruits and vegetables. They use it to fill watering cans and get water for cooking or play-doh making. I use the easel when teaching small groups of children. Children also use the easel to do surveys and practice math skills. Thank you for bringing these needed items to our classroom!”

  • We Need Help to Open Our Learning Pizzeria!

    Funded May 16, 2017

I cannot express enough gratitude for your generosity! Your kind donation allowed my first grade class to make our pizzeria come to life. Children used the paper you donated to create decorations, placemats, menus, and advertisements. The laminating sheets protected their beautiful menus from spills. Children kept their work throughout this unit in the folders you provided. Finally children used the wooden trays to serve food, drinks, and store receipts. This unit was not only fun, but gave first graders an incredible number of learning opportunities. None of this could have been possible without you!”

  • A Cozy Library for Falling in Love with Books!

    Funded Dec 16, 2016

Thank you for our amazing sofa, chairs, and tables! The kids are enamored with them! They are just right for snuggling in and getting lost in a great book. Our classroom library is now a cozy inviting place where children want to spend time. Kids flock to the library every chance they get to lie back and read. Having this sofa set has improved their motivation to read and their reading endurance. They also enjoy using them during writing and for group work. We cannot thank you enough for your generosity!”

  • Please Look! We Need Some Books!

    Funded Dec 7, 2016

I cannot express my gratitude for your donation! Your gift brought desperately needed books into our classroom. My students now have amazing titles to choose from everyday like National Geographic Kids and Mo Willems' Elephant & Piggie series. They can't get enough of these books during reading centers and every night at home. I never have to ask children to stay focused on reading, because they are engrossed in these books. My students are making incredible progress in reading greatly due to having access to the high quality literature you provided!”

  • Sand and Water Table for STEM and Creative Play!

    Funded Oct 27, 2016

Thank you for our gorgeous water table with Lego grid cover! It has given my class countless hours of fun and exploration already! Everyday children choose to work at the water table during choice time. Through play, children learn about buoyancy, density, displacement, and porosity. With the Lego grid, children build cities, action figures, and all sorts of flying vehicles. Thanks to your kind donation, children have the opportunity to explore scientific concepts and build fine motor skills through play!”

  • Wanted! A Puppet Theater for Aspiring Playwrights!

    Funded Oct 26, 2016

Thank you for our beautiful puppet theater and puppets! My class absolutely loves them! Everyday children choose to work at the puppet theater during our choice time. They write and perform original plays, or they transform their favorite books into plays. They eagerly anticipate performing these plays for their classmates!

Through play, children are learning about narration, dialogue, plot, and character traits. Children who are quiet and reserved have been given the platform to find their voice. All children now have an outlet for creative expression and building their teamwork skills. Thank you for these incredible opportunities!”

    With gratitude,

  • Take a Look! We Need Some Books!

    Funded Aug 2, 2016

    Dear Donors,

Thank you for your incredibly generous contribution! Thanks to your support my students have hundreds of new books to devour! The key to helping children become good readers is to get them books that are interesting! The books you helped purchase are books that captivate their imaginations and compel them to keep reading. You have helped inspire these youngsters to become passionate lifelong readers!

In my class, children have book baggies loaded with books. They bring these books home to read nightly and back to school to work with throughout our reading block. My students are thrilled to fill their baggies with these fun new series.

First graders are at a special age where different children are reading at very different levels. Some children are reading simple pattern books with just a few words on every page, while others are reading complex chapter books with hundreds of pages. These book series are so valuable because they keep my more advanced readers engaged and challenged. Furthermore, children who can't read them independently quite yet look forward to bringing one home to read with an adult.

Thank you supporting my young readers!”

    With gratitude,

  • Help Children Cope with a Crisis

    Funded Dec 18, 2015

Thanks to your generous gift, my first graders have an amazing cozy corner! Your gift makes a huge impact in their daily lives. During difficult times, children now have a quiet and comforting place to seek refuge. The cozy corner provides them a sense of order and security. When in crisis, children are able to use this area to write, draw, read, and relax.

This quiet place reassures children that their emotional needs will be taken care of. With this reassurance, children are free to think about the needs of others and able to open their minds to learning. After several minutes using the cozy corner, children are usually able to return to their work. The cozy corner helps them calm down and process their emotions so they are able to resolve issues independently or with the assistance of an adult.

We are now beginning a social emotional program using teddy bears that helps children express their feelings and develop strategies to prevent emotional crises. The bears give us opportunities to discuss themes such as social and emotional cause and effect in the classroom, building a safe community, what happens with friends, and knowing yourself and knowing others. The bear curriculum in conjunction with the cozy corner helps prevent many crises and allows students to deal with them effectively when they occur.

Thank you for your donation and support!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Landon
