  • Snacks for Civic Engagement

    Funded Apr 6, 2025

Thank you for your generous donations to keep my students snacking and happy on Election Day! It's a long day (6:15am-9pm), but my students spend the day without complaint making sure that voting is safe and available for our community. They will much appreciate having good snacks to keep them going on that day!”

  • Help Me Learn ASL for a More Inclusive Classroom

    Funded Mar 25, 2025

Thank you so much for your generous donations to help me and my students learn ASL. I teach at a comprehensive high school with a Deaf and Hard of Hearing program. Many students are included into general education and learning support classes with ASL interpreters. This year, I have taught two classes with a Deaf co-teacher that fully include several deaf and hard of hearing students in each class. My students are so excited to practice my ASL with me each week as I learn new signs in my classes. That ability to communicate directly with my students and co-teacher instead of always having to rely on an interpreter is priceless.

Thank you for making this possible. I can't wait to take the second level class and continue using the book. My students love the posters and helping their hearing peers learn basic signs.”

  • Mussels in Our Classroom to Restore Native Species

    Funded Feb 8, 2025

Thank you so much for your generous donations to our classroom. We are so excited to have native mussels in our classroom as we are a part of a program to restore them to our watershed after years of them being endangered due to human activities. The buckets and containers make it so much easier for us to get the water from the creek or river that we need to change their water in their tank each week. We cannot use tap water and must get water from a natural source, so the containers make it much easier to transport the water.

The scale and calipers have allowed my students to measure the growth of our mussels each week and to monitor how well they are doing in our care. Students love getting to do this each week and having the proper equipment to do it makes it a successful process each week. The test strips allow us to learn about water chemistry and to monitor the quality of the water that our mussels are living in to make sure we change the water often enough and are not feeding them too much or too little. Having the strips has allowed my students to be able to see how we can measure the different things that are in water. It also allows them to study how these things impact aquatic animals.

Thanks again for your generous donation to our classroom. We have put the supplies to good use and look forward to many years of participating in this program as we help to restore a native species to our watershed.”

  • Hands on Science

    Funded Feb 24, 2025

Thank you so much for your generous donations to our classroom and for giving my students pencils, notebooks and other necessary supplies to stay organized and learn science. We also greatly appreciate the refrigerator and microwave as we have mussels in our classroom that we are learning about and caring for in the hopes of reintroducing them to our watershed and restoring their population after being endangered for years.

Having a cart to haul the water from the creek that we need to care for the mussels makes it so much easier as we need about 10 gallons per week of natural water from a creek or river for our mussels as they cannot be put in tap water. We also needed the refrigerator to store their algae that they eat as it must remain refrigerated so it does not spoil. The microwave allows us to have hot water to clean and sterilize our equipment to keep students and our mussels healthy in our classroom.

We are about 6 weeks into caring for our mussels and they are thriving thanks to your generous donations to make caring for them eaiser. Hands on science is the best learning for students and your donations have allowed me to bring this project to life in our classroom.”

  • Swim Team

    Funded Dec 9, 2024

We appreciate your generous donations to our swim team. They helped us to have a very successful season where two swimmers qualified to swim in the district championships and two swimmers won medals at the individual city championship meet. It made all the difference for each swimmer to have their own goggles and caps.

Having a clock to time interval workouts that swimmers could see from the pool was so helpful in our swimmers getting stronger and faster. As a team of mostly new athletes to the sport, having the clock and stopwatches helped us to teach swimmers how to manage their own workout and to time each other during practices. Swimmers having ownership for their own practices definitely increases motivation and teamwork in what is often seen as an individual sport.

We really appreciate your generosity and look forward to using the timer and stopwatches for years to come.”

  • Swim Gear

    Funded Dec 27, 2024

Thank you for your generous donations to our swim team for the 2024-25 season. Thanks to your kindness and generosity, every swimmer on our team had their own cap and goggles. We did not have to sterilize and share them this year. This was a huge help as swimmers learned to be responsible and take care of their belongings.

Swimmers in need were able to use the deck jacket to stay warm at practice or meets and everyone who needed one got a swim bag to keep their team suit, towel and other belongings in. This prevented issues with their school chromebooks getting wet and damaged and also allowed students to have a bag designed for wet gear so it didn't get musty and could dry between uses.

We really appreciate your contributions to our program which includes swimmers of all levels. When swimmers have the appropriate gear, they become more confident swimmers and members of the team. We really appreciate all you did to help us with a successful season.”

  • Our Swimmers Need to See

    Funded Dec 1, 2024

Thank you so much for the goggles for our swim team. Goggles are essential for swimmers to practice and compete so their eyes are not irritated by the chlorine in the pool. Prior to your donation, our swimmers were using a hodgepodge of old goggles that didn't seal well around their eyes and that didn't protect their eyes from the chlorine.

Our swimmers were so excited to get the new goggles and to get into the pool to practice prior to winter break with their own goggles. Goggles definitely should not be shared and now, each of our swimmers have their own goggles for practice and meets.”

  • Just the Basics

    Funded Oct 23, 2024

Thank you so much for your generous donations that have given my students what they need to stay organized, keep good notes and be ready to learn this year. I have struggled this year as I was out the first 9 weeks on medical leave to have surgery on my back. Coming into school nearly at the end of the first quarter made it tough to get students organized and on track. Your donations of notebooks, pencils and dry erase markers made it a little bit easier. Many of my students do not come to school with basic supplies and I end up buying them.

Every year, I spend way too much money on my classroom and as a single mother, that means I am making sacrifices at home. Your kindness and generosity made it easier for me to make sure that my students had what they needed to get started this year without me having to spend hundreds of dollars out of my own pocket and that is much appreciated. Notebooks are such a simple thing and yet they make such a huge difference in the classroom, so thanks for making our lives a little easier!

Thanks again for being willing to donate to my classroom and my students.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Caswell

My students are all public school students in the Mayfair section of northeast Philadelphia. The vast majority of my students qualify for free and reduced lunch and come to school every day to learn and increase their potential for future success. My kids have a variety of intellectual, emotional and learning disabilities, but come to school to overcome their challenges and become successful and productive citizens. We offer a variety of vocational tracts in addition to the traditional educational path. These kids want to break the cycle of poverty and violence that they experience and they want to learn. With our help and support, they are doing it every day. I want to provide a safe and comfortable environment where my kids feel as though they can learn without judgment as to their specific abilities or disabilities. They are all learners and all have significant potential. Help me create my safe space.
