This specific rug would replace the current, much-loved one in my room that was saved from being tossed out my first year of teaching. It would provide a gathering spot where students have their own “spot” during read-a-louds and are still able to see the book as well as extra space when working on math skills in small groups. The bright colors (that match other supplies in the room) give students a welcome feeling in the classroom and the alphabet edge could provide an added visual cue for students when distinguishing between capital and lower case letters in their writing.
