  • Wireless Smart Cars for Physics Experiments Part 2

    Funded May 8, 2019

Thank you so much for the Smart Carts. My students and I are so happy to have this new equipment. They connect seemlessly with the Chromebooks. We have been able to study speed and velocity. Students find it helpful to be able to run through numerous scenarios very quickly. Because everyone gets a chance to try, I believe it is helpful in distinguishing speed and velocity.

It will be invaluable when we study acceleration, energy, and work. These are all concpets that students can use multiple hands-on activities. These carts are extremely helpful.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Taylor

  • Wireless Smart Cars & Fan Cart Accessory for Physics Experiments

    Funded Mar 20, 2019

My students and I are so grateful for the Smart Carts and Fans. These items replace old carts and sensors that require PCs to use. Now that we have Chromebook these items hookup wirelessly with the SparkVue program. This has allowed my students to develop a better understanding of speed, velocity, and acceleration. The fans allow us to apply a constant force and verify Newton's Second Law that force is equal to mass times acceleration.

Building a class set with my school budget takes forever. We are grateful for the opportunity to also use DonorsChoose.org means that by next year we are likely to have a full class set. Your kindness and generosity has made this possible.

    Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Taylor

  • A Few More Basics

    Funded Jan 23, 2019

We cannot thank you enough for new AA and AAA batteries, dry erase markers, erasers and cleaner. The batteries are crucial for our graphing calculators. At this point in the year many of the calculators need new batteries.

White boarding is key to assisting student's knowledge of concepts. We go through many dry erase markers. It is very handy to have new ones. The cleaner also helps us remove the inevitable buildup.

Your kindness and generosity made this project a reality. We are grateful for kindness and support!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Taylor

  • Fan Cart Physics I

    Funded Jan 5, 2019

My students and I are so happy to have the new Smartcar and the fan cart attachments. These fan carts are so much better than our previous ones. They attach well to the dynamics cars. They have three different speeds and the batteries last. This allows students to do many different experiments reliably. They are much sturdier than the previous fan carts.

Acceleration is a topic that students struggle to understand. These carts and other experiments will help them understand what to do. I will have to keep them from trying to use them as fans during May and June.

Your kindness and generosity made this project a reality. Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Taylor

  • Whiteboard Supplies

    Funded Dec 6, 2018

My students and I are very grateful for the lab whiteboard, markers, erasers, and staplers. Physics includes many different calculations. Using a whiteboard instead of the chalkboard is helpful. It is less messy and better for people and equipment in the room. Students are currently working on work and energy. This requires many different calculations. As you can see from the pictures, the board is already used frequently. Having students do calculations and explain their thinking helps cement their knowledge of physics.

    Thank you for your kindness!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Taylor

  • Chalkboard to Dry Erase Board

    Funded Oct 15, 2018

My students and I are so grateful for our new chalkboard turned whiteboard. The chalk was messy and board dull. Now we have a nice white surface that allows us to use the Expo markers for announcements, objective and solving problems. The double board is helpful in physics where we solve lots of problems. It allows the teacher I share with and his classes to have a dedicated board and my classes to have our own board.

Your kindness and generosity made this project a reality. It is wonderful to have your support.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Taylor

  • A Few Basics

    Funded Aug 24, 2018

My students and I are grateful for the supplies. The hand sanitizer is a welcome addition to the lab and classroom. Many classes are hands-on and while that is good for learning, it can lead to the rapid spread of germs. Luckily with easy access my high school students are good about making sure that doesn't happen.

In CP physics we just finished making paper cars to protect an egg when it crashes into a brick wall. The hot glue is used extensively to ensure the cars are well made. I am happy to say that most of my students were successful in building a paper car with limited resources that protected the raw egg. Great for me because it is a lot less cleanup. Good for them because they can study momentum by analyzing our class data.

Without your generosity this project would not have been possible.”

  • Chart Paper & Laminated Formula Sheets

    Funded Aug 19, 2018

We cannot thank you enough for your kindness and generosity. I am grateful to each one of you, Karen Parreti, Anne Hansen, the two anonymous, and myself. Thank you Craig Newmark Philanthropies for matching all of our donations. This project funded in the very first week it was live.

My students and I use the chart paper to make kinematics graphs easier. The paper is nice because graphs are sometimes so much work you need to look at them again the next day. This allows the group to save their work.

Physics involves lots of formulas and calculations. Having laminated sheets ensures they can last the whole year. Honors and AP students all use them daily.

Your support of students is amazing!”

  • TI-84 Graphing Calculators for STEM Part 2

    Funded Oct 16, 2018

My students and I are extremely grateful for these calculators. They are essential in Physics class. The calculations are complicated and it is nice to be able to go back to see what was done. The graphing features allow students to create and analyze graphs quickly and efficiently.

Your kindness and generosity has made the project a reality. Without you not all of my students would have easy access to this technology. It is expensive and not every family can afford to provide their student an expensive calculator. You are the best!”

  • TI-84 Graphing Calculators

    Funded Aug 18, 2018

We cannot thank you enough for the graphing calculators. Physics uses complicated calculations and tons of graphs. Having these available in the class is helpful. It allows both my college prep and honors students the ability to use them, even if they can´t afford it themselves.

Each calculator can be a bit different. Now the new NJ state science test provides these on the screen for students to use. This should help them be familiar with this exact calculator. Without your kindness this would not have been possible.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Taylor

Another new year! Science is about doing! I like to have my students do projects throughout the year. These projects allow them to investigate and apply scientific knowlege. This takes many supplies. Our school is great about providing the basics, but activities require many different items.
