Books that Appeal to the Minorities
Funded Oct 9, 2019My students get so excited to get new books. We use the Accelerated Reader program and there are many incentives that we use to help motivate the students to read. These books will allow them to reach their goals and become more fluent in reading. Many of our student's just need to discover what books can peak their interest and I hope that these books will do just that. We haven't had a library in our building for four years, so it is entirely up to the teachers to provide books. Thanks again for your generosity and helping my students experience adventures through these books.”

Clothing and Food Need to Be a Guarantee
Funded Aug 13, 2019I can not describe how amazing it is to be able to provide these items to my students. I share these donors choose materials with the guidance counselor and social worker in my school. They share with me how appreciative the students are to take these items home. I also keep some in my room that enable me to provide food to my students when they tell me they are hungry. At first, the students were hesitant to ask. Now it is known that I have food available and the students come to me often. I have noticed a huge shift in the amount of work I am able to get out of students now that I am able to help fill a basic necessity. I apologize for not having pictures of the students using the materials or getting the snacks but I know it is hard enough to come to me for these items and I don't want to make them uncomfortable. Thank you again for your generosity.”

Funded Aug 8, 2019Thank you so much for helping me to get these basic necessities to my students. These items are taken for granted by so many middle class people. My students don't come to school with what they need to succeed in class. It is so nice to be able to give them any school supplies they need without it coming from my own pocket. This also saves important class time where students are not hunting down the needed supplies. I love being able to incorporate color into my lessons, so the colored pencils help. Color helps trigger the brains of students and helps them learn materials more effectively. Thank you again for your generosity.”

Funded Apr 8, 2019Thank you so much for contributing to this project. Having food is such a vital part of a students success. It is a necessity and it is one that our students do not always have filled. It is such a blessing to be able to provide our students with food. These items came just in time for us to provide breakfast for our students before they took the state tests. These tests are very stressful for our students and having a full belly allows them to focus better. Thank you again for your generosity and getting these needed items to our students.”

Funded Mar 28, 2018Thank you so much for your donation to my classroom. Many of my students come to school empty handed and will be extremely excited to receive free school supplies!
When my students saw the supplies come in they got extremely excited. They helped me open the boxes and decide where we would store them in the classroom. Many of them asked who would be able to receive the supplies and when they would be able to get some.
Since we have just begun a new school year, I have made the supplies readily available to those students that myself and other teachers in the building have noticed coming in empty handed, or consistently unprepared for class. Many of our students this year have had folders, but no notebooks or pencils. Every student that has received school supplies has been grateful and have begun to practice organization skills to better in the classroom.”

Dry Erase Board Magic
Funded Mar 9, 2016Dear Donors,
Thank you so much for your donation to my classroom! With your help in funding my project, I have been able to receive two much needed dry erase boards, and one easel. These materials have allowed me to be able to do much more with my small groups during class. I used to have to write on the table to show sentence starters/frames, examples, illustrations, and much more. I know my students appreciate that they don't have to look upside down at what is written on the table.
Since getting the boards, my students have been much more excited about coming to small group. They love having the chance to write their thoughts, ideas, and examples on a dry erase board that can be seen by many. This has helped to build confidence in their writing skills. The students are more willing to write, make errors, and learn editing skills than they were prior to the dry erase boards.
I will continue to use the dry erase boards in my classroom daily. They allow for me to do many things with the students that I wasn't able to before. The students are excited to learn, and I'm excited to be able to to continue that excitement.
Again, Thank you so much for your donation to my classroom!”

Reading Intervention Materials
Funded Mar 9, 2016Dear Donors,
Thank you so much for your wonderful donation to my classroom. My students love that they have the ability to listen to the books that they are reading, while they are reading it. Many have said that they feel as though they are better comprehending what they have read.
When they saw me open the box that was delivered with the MP3 players inside, they were so excited! They wanted to be able to use them right then. Daily, I would have students asking me if the MP3 players were ready for use. After I got the audiobooks downloaded, I passed them out to the students who were interested in using them. I have never seen so many of my students excited to read!
We are going to continue use of the MP3 players in the classroom daily. The students have asked for new books to be downloaded, so during winter break, I will be working on this task. I want the students to continue to be excited about books that are available to them within the classroom.
Again, thank you for your donation! My students and I greatly appreciate it.”

Mrs. Lenihan
