Level Up Our Friendship Skills
Funded Feb 20, 2023The materials we received have been essential in helping our students build friendships and gain emotional skills. We were able to use the materials in small group therapy sessions as well during lunch bunch and friendship groups.
In our small groups we use the games to teach our students about cooperation, being a good friend and showing kindness to others. They have enjoyed learning all of the new games and building relationships. Their teachers have seen improvements in class and on the playground with the kids being more skilled at resolving conflicts with their peers.
During our alternative lunch, students who choose to join are able to work with others on building Lego projects, playing cooperative board games, reading in our cozy corner or doing art. The students have been able to build new friendships through these activities and are able to practice conflict resolution, communication and build imaginative play skills.”

Funded May 9, 2023The Legos that this project funded have created awesome learning and friendship building opportunities. They have been used during social groups as well as therapy sessions. During therapy sessions, the materials offer a great opportunity for students to relax and create while opening up about their emotions. During social groups, the children are able to work together on joint projects, building friendships and problem solving skills. While some students prefer to follow project directions others are able to dig into their creative side and come up with their own unique creations. Thank you again for your generous donations that have made these opportunities possible for our students.”

Funded Feb 5, 2023The materials we received have been essential in helping our students build friendships and gain emotional skills. We were able to use the materials in small group therapy sessions as well open an alternative lunch space. We also created an SEL lending library so that teachers can check out the books to use for lessons in their classes.
In our small groups we use the books to teach our students about emotions, how to deal with them and that how they feel is normal. They have enjoyed hearing the different stories and are able to relate them to their own lives. Their teachers have seen improvements in class and on the playground with the kids being more skilled at resolving conflicts with their peers.
