Graphic Novels to Inspire Bilingual Readers
Funded Dec 11, 2018My students and I are so thrilled to have these amazing graphic novels. I work in a Title 1 district and school so many students do not own books at home. I also teach English Language Learners and most of my students are struggling readers with these books they are able to read and enjoy some books in their free time.
These graphic novels have made a great improvement in my students wanting to read during quiet reading and free time. The fun thing is that several books we have or will be using during direct instruction. We use Anthem by Ayn Rand shortly after getting the books. This book helped engage my struggling readers and all readers. We will be using the various Julius Caesar books starting in April. I can not wait to see how the students relate to the Julius Caesar graphic novels considering they are already reading them now.
My students and I are so grateful to all the donors who made these books possible in our classroom. I am so blessed to have the books and to see my students engaged in reading. I have explained to my student show even graphic novels can help us connect with the text we are reading for pleasure or to gain more knowledge. Again we want to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.”

Funded Sep 6, 2018These supplies have helped my students greatly in being able to achieve their daily work in class. We are able to have the supplies we need to complete daily work and build the skills the students need to be successful.
The printer paper we are using for small projects as well as printing daily worksheets for the class. The notebook paper, and pencils we use every day to complete our lessons. The chalkboard markers are being used for our Graffiti Culture wall where the students get to share their culture. The dry erase markers and erasers are for students to respond to quick questions in the lesson or for group discussions
We are grateful and appreciate the help and support you all have given us. With these supplies, my students have been able to do their classwork and have some great discussions in class. The supplies will help my students to be successful”
