I teach math at a Title 1 school in rural North Carolina where we have 100% free lunch. The students at my school face many difficult obstacles each day. As a teacher, I believe in creating a conducive environment for students to be successful and that includes taking care of things that would be a barrier to their learning such as providing everyday materials for them to use. My students do a lot of hands-on activities in my classroom and collaborate in groups often.
