  • More Solutions with Osmo

    Funded Sep 26, 2016

Thank you so much for supporting our classroom! We are so excited to create More Solutions With Osmo!Awbie is a darling monster who likes to travel through the forest eating everything in sight. My students are having a great time helping Awbie conquer the challenges before him. Each time they are successful, Awbie gets seeds to plant to help the garden grow. Being able to see the code come to live helps my students become better problem solvers. They are able to see how to change the code to help Awbie be more successful. I am so excited to begin to lay the foundation for coding with my students now. This skill will help them develop their problem solving skills and learn to look at situations in many different ways.”

  • Moving All Day

    Funded Sep 16, 2016

These stools are amazing! My students love that they are able to be Moving All Day! The demand for the stools is high! We are currently rotating the stools amongst students, and each day I have students asking if they can have the stool for the day. Students have said the movement helps them stay focused which was the goal in providing flexible seating options for students. Target, you have made such a difference in our school year. We really appreciate your support of healthy living and dedication to education. I know that these stools will be a favorite for many years to come!”

  • Read With Me, An Environmental Challenge

    Funded Jul 26, 2016

Thank you donors for helping me bring this worthwhile project to my students! It is so great to see my students take the lead and read with the younger students. After reading with a buddy, they come back with new and interesting facts that they have learned. They also come back making connections to their own learning. One of the books is Let's Go Rock Collecting, and students returned talking about when they learned about rocks in 2nd grade. They also really liked the Forces That Make Things Move. We appreciate your generosity and are looking forward to reading with our buddies this year!”

  • Getting Active and Healthy With Our Buddies!

    Funded Aug 26, 2016

Thank you Target! Getting Active and Healthy With Our Buddies is a fantastic project! This project allows my students to time to read with their buddies and to play outside together. Working with the younger students at our school is so important for my students. It helps them to learn how to be a leader and how to teach others. Our first Time For Kids issue was on Olympic athletes. Students really enjoyed talking about watching the Olympic and comparing their favorite sports. We were amazed to learn that the USA took home more gold medals than some countries entire medal count, but that 3 countries had the same number of silver. Thank you for providing these experiences for my students.”

  • Math Olympics

    Funded Aug 12, 2016

Olympic fever is definitely still alive in fifth grade! My students are loving incorporating a little friendly competition into our math curriculum. So far, a favorite has been swatting the foam dice over the jump ropes and recording their scores with the Expo markers to determine who went the highest. Tossing the packing peanuts into the rings is very fun to watch. Students expect the packing peanuts to go much farther than they actually do. Target, thank you for providing materials that will get my students out of their seats and engaging with our curriculum in meaningful ways. We appreciate your support of education.”

  • Ready! Set! Spike!

    Funded Aug 5, 2016

Ready! Set! Spike! is so much fun! My students are thrilled to be able to incorporate a game that they saw at the beach into our PE curriculum. The first time we played, several of the students commented that it much harder than they thought it was going to be! When my students were tired after playing, I knew we had found a great game. Having so many Slammo games really allowed each student to participate and learn how to play the game. My students are anxious for our to play again. I know it will be a favorite for many years to come. Thank you for supporting healthy living. We appreciate you Target!”

  • A Piggy Bank To Help Me $ave

    Funded May 30, 2016

Thank you California Jump$tart coalition! Today was such a fun day! My students were able to work with their buddies and create a Piggy Bank to Help Them $ave all year long! It was so fun to see how students decorated their piggy banks in so many different ways. You could really see each personality come out in their bank's design. At the end of the project, my students couldn't wait to take their banks home. I know this a project they will remember for a long time. Thank you for helping build my students' financial literacy skills and giving them a practical way to implement these skills. We appreciate the difference you are making in our learning.”

  • Sphero Keeps on Rollin'

    Funded Apr 22, 2016

With this project, I can definitely say that Sphero Keeps Rollin'! Sphero is such a great addition to our classroom. My students are enjoying not only learning how to code with sites like code.org, but they are benefiting tremendously from seeing their code in action. It is one thing to move an object on a computer screen, it is another to watch Sphero follow your commands in the classroom. Through this project, my students are applying the motto that mistakes are OK to their learning. When Sphero doesn't do what they expect him to the first time, my students are putting their heads together to figure out another way to program him. We appreciate your support and the difference you are making in our learning.”

  • Sphero and Coding in Our Classroom

    Funded Mar 11, 2016

Sphero! Sphero! Sphero! Sphero is our Hero! Sphero is one tenacious robot who really is showing us what it means to be adventurous. No matter how students program Sphero, he is willing to try. Sphero is also teaching us what it means to have grit and to stick with it. My students will send Sphero on a mission and he will be unsuccessful. However, it doesn't phase him. He gets his code adjusted, goes back to the starting line, and tries it again. When he is successful, we cheer! When he is not successful, we try again. Sphero is also the Hero of our artwork and stories. Many students have written about their adventures with Sphero, or the adventures they wish they could have! Thank you for bringing this meaningful project to my students. We appreciate your generous support of the arts in our classroom!”

  • Rollin' With Sphero

    Funded Mar 11, 2016

Rollin, Rollin, Rollin, Sphero keeps on Rollin! Thank you so much for bringing this fun robot to my classroom! She is adorable! We love the way she lights up when she is ready to roll! My students are so excited to be able to program Sphero and to make her accomplish their tasks. We have spent several days just trying to get her to roll around the room without hitting anything as she goes. This project lets students immediately see how the code they write works, and the instant feedback provides them the opportunity to problem solve and fix their errors. We are excited to have Sphero as a part of our class! Thank you for making that happen.”

I teach an exciting, motivated, and creative group of fifth grade students. They love technology and art and are eager to use both content areas as extensions of our core curricular work. They work hard to collaborate so they can share the limited technology and art materials that we have. My students need more opportunities to create, as they are currently limited by both a lack of supplies and time. Anytime I can incorporate art, my students are engaged, motivated to learn, and inspired to create.
