  • STEAM Cardboard Creation Station

    Funded Feb 12, 2025

Our project was for 2 ChompSaws, cardboard cutters, and non-cut gloves for students to wear. In the time since we have gotten the materials we have begun using them on a project where students are creating an arcade game out of cardboard (inspired by Caine's Arcade video from YouTube.)

Everyone was curious when we unboxed the ChompSaw. We went through safety procedures and then everyone was ready to get a turn cutting out shapes for their projects. Students who had previously been reluctant to contribute ideas in the brainstorming phase suddenly had ideas they wanted to share, and ways they wanted to cut the cardboard. The most fun discovery was that they could cut curves and circles, not just in straight lines.

In the future we are going to make masks out of cardboard inspired by Scottish artist Eduardo Paolozzi.”

  • Book Battle 24-25

    Funded Dec 3, 2024

Thank you all for your generous donations. By supporting this project, I have been able to start the first ever Halls Ferry Book Battle Club. My students and I are in the process of reading all 10 books that are represented in the St. Louis Book Battle. As we read each of these books, we are able to talk and discuss what is happening and our thoughts as well. After we read all 10 books, my students will participate in the Book Battle competing against elementary students throughout St. Louis. Additionally, every student who participates gets to keep their own copy of the book. I am so grateful for your support in this project! Happy reading!”

  • Generation Genius - Science and Math

    Funded Sep 4, 2021

Thank you all so much for your generous donations. Generation Genius has been an amazing addition to my classroom teaching in both Math and Science. The videos are engaging and the students absolutely love watching them.

We've been using the Science videos on a regular basis. The experiments that they show in the videos are easy to use and affordable.

I am always so grateful for the generosity myself and my students receive through Donors Choose. It is such an amazing help to be able to provide these extra resources for my students.

    Thank you all so much.”

  • Culturally Inclusive Books

    Funded Mar 16, 2021

Thank you so much for your generous donations! Books are always an essential part of any classroom. These books are especially important because they feature characters that resemble the students in my classroom. To be able to see yourself in the books you read is something that I was never able to experience growing up. I'm so beyond thrilled to be able to provide my students with that experience. I am so grateful for your generosity. My students this year have loved reading these new books and I know future students will as well.”

  • Chair Pockets

    Funded Sep 5, 2018

Thank you all so much for your generous donations. The chair pockets have been an amazing addition to my classroom. Since we have tables in my room instead of desks, the chair pockets were necessary so that students had easy access to their materials to be successful in school. Not only are the chair pockets helpful in keeping the students organized, they also help in creating groups for the students. We are all very grateful for the new addition of materials to our classroom. My students this year and future students will all benefit from these materials. Thank you all again.”

  • Books for Black History

    Funded Feb 8, 2018

Thank you all so much for your wonderful donations! I cannot begin to express the impact that these books are going to have on my students. The majority of my students are African-American and for them to have books in their classroom that they can read on their own about their heritage and history is amazing. Not only will my students this year get to enjoy these books, but my students in years to come will get the benefit of them as well. We are all so thankful for your generosity. It is truly wonderful to see.”

  • It's Game Time!

    Funded Jan 8, 2018

Thank you all so very much for your generous donations to my project. The games that my classroom received from this project are already a hit with my students! When they earned their reward for having perfect attendance, they chose to play with all of the games we got instead of getting on the computers. It was amazing to see kids choose to interact with each other and play games instead of being isolated on a computer. The way the kids were working together and trying to figure out the games was amazing. Thank you so much. My class this year, and all of my future classes are going to enjoy these games.”

  • Classroom Supplies

    Funded Jan 29, 2018

Thank you all so much for your generous donation! The supplies that were brought for my classroom through this project are going to be a huge help to my classroom. I create all of my own teaching tools for my classroom. The markers I received are going to allow me to create colorful posters for my students to learn from. They are able to use these posters around the classroom to help direct them to what they need to do. The storage bins are an amazing addition to my classroom! All of my book sets now have a home and are incredibly easy to access. I am so grateful to everyone who donated. Thank you!”

  • We Are All Wonders

    Funded Oct 3, 2017

Thank you all so much for your generous donations! With this project, my entire class was able to read the book Wonder. Wonder is the story of a young boy with facial deformities and the challenges he faces in school. Throughout reading this book, the theme of kindness was present. The students learned about how to treat each other with kindness and were able to see how Auggie must feel. After reading the book, the entire school was provided with the opportunity to see the movie in theaters. They were able to make connections between the book and the film. It was an amazing opportunity that I am so glad my class and our school was able to experience. The kids LOVED the book are are still involved in the world of Auggie through the additional Wonder stories. Thank you all again!”

Thank you for considering our page. My students are an amazing group of kids, and even though they face many challenges and struggles, they are lifelong learners who strive for success. I teach in Ferguson, MO. The school I work at is a Title I school with 100% of students on free and reduced lunch. The majority of the population we serve is of low socioeconomic status with high rates of poverty. Despite all of this, our students come to school every day with an eagerness to learn. My goal is to provide my students with the resources and materials they need in order to be successful, lifelong learners. Thank you for helping us make our goals a reality.
