  • A Napping Bear is a Learning Bear!

    Funded Aug 17, 2019

Thank you very much for your generous donations. Our students were so excited to see the brand new sleeping mats. They talked about the mats and comment how grateful they are to have new mats. Now they are able to lay down feeling relaxed instead of focusing on the rips or faded old ones. Preschool students need some relaxation time to recharge energy and continue through the school day. Napping or quiet time restore alertness, enhances performance, and reduces accidents. Napping has psychological benefits too. A nap can be a pleasant and can provide an easy way to get some relaxation for our children.

Thank you again for your generosity,”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Seitz - Preschool

  • Little Whales Need to Upgrade their Learning Centers

    Funded Apr 22, 2019

Thank you again for your generous donations. The new kids living room set was a success with the students. Everybody wanted to grab a book and sit down on the couches to read. They felt like they were reading in their own home. The new table with chairs in the dramatic play area allowed the students to play like they were in a restaurant with the different characters involved in this situation like a chef, waitress, and patrons. Every time that my students see a new box coming, they become excited immediately, they wanted to open the boxes right away. Everybody shared what could be inside and it was interesting to listen to the use of literacy skills by communicating with full sentences. These additions will allow the students to feel comfortable in the literacy space and the dramatic play area and enjoy the activities that are planned for them.”

  • Bears Need Shade!

    Funded Apr 17, 2019

Thank you again for you generous donation to this grade level project - preschool. Summer brings happiness but also the heat can become challenging for the students. With the sandbox canopies the students can be comfortable sitting under the shade after running around. These structures became the meeting point for the students that just wanted to hang out during recess. The play grill area with canopy allowed the students to play with water and refresh themselves because one of the sides offers a water activity bar.

The students were super excited when they saw the teachers unpacking and putting together all the pieces on the playground. They were so intrigued by the new additions that they did not want to play, they just wanted to observe us working.

These acquisitions will continue helping them to develop literacy skills by sharing conversation under the shade spaces or by experimenting with water and plants and foster pretend play during outdoor recess.”

    With gratitude,

  • Little Whales, Art and Literacy

    Funded Apr 17, 2019

Thank you for you generous donations to my class project. The literacy and art project was a success with my students. They were excited to see boxes coming into the classroom, it was kind of an early Christmas. The first major project that we developed was discovering secondary colors in the new four sided easel. The students shared predictions about the possible outcomes. They could converse within proximity without having to raise their voices or walk across the room. They asked to have a permanent art project on the easel every week. The students requirement helped me to reflect on my teaching strategies and how to incorporate more literacy and art activities in my lesson plans.”

  • Bears Need Sensory Play!

    Funded Oct 13, 2018

I am using new materials to provide more opportunities in our sensory center. This will allow students to interact and enjoy different textures and volumes. I incorporate glass pebbles numbered from 1 to 10 in the tub. From there, the students can find the pebbles and put them in numerical order. My students were thrilled with all the new materials. Their faces lit up when I showed them the new materials, for example, something as simple as packing peanuts, rubber duckies, or sand can contribute to and foster creativity.

Your contributions will allow for the kids to have more hands-on projects related to the sensory center where they can be active learners and develop to their full potential. I will link literacy, math, and science to activities where they can be in contact with the different materials that you with your generous donations helped us acquire.

Thank you again, for your kind contribution to my classroom.”

  • Bears Can Build!

    Funded Sep 23, 2018

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for funding the "Bears Can Build" Project. I am very thankful to you for taking the time to donate to my classroom.

Our students are so thrilled to have the magnetic tiles and a visual timer. They are aware of the time that they can spend investigating and playing during center time. The magnetic tiles will also serve other purposes like reflection, patterns, space perception and more.

Thank you also for recognizing that we have some students that need different materials in order to achieve academic goals. You did not only help 20 students, but you are also helping future preschoolers that will be able to use these materials.

Thank you again for your generosity and giving to a small cause.”

  • Bears Can Learn to Read!

    Funded Sep 21, 2018

As I sat here this afternoon to complete my thank you package, I came across your generous donation. I can't tell you how much I appreciate your support for our classroom by facilitating tools that allow the students to stay focused during reading time.

Your generous donation will go a long way to helping not only this year's students but more students in years to come. In fact, with your gift, we will be able to provide sensory relief during literacy. The students love to read books but sometimes it is hard for some of them to stay focus and grasp the necessary skills to continue emerging in literacy.

Thank you! You have made a real difference in the lives of the kids we serve.

Thank you once again for your donation. It means the world to us!”

    With gratitude,

Some students need extra support to stay focused on the task at hand. Chair Bands for kids with fidgety feet and the EDsportshouse Sensory Toys Bundle-Stress Relief Fidget Hand Toys for Kids can help them to calm down and focus for longer periods of time when working on literacy skills with the First Little Readers: Guided Reading Level A: A Big Collection of Just-Right Leveled Books for Beginning Readers. For example, some students are constantly touching things around them. If they were holding this fidget toy it would allow them extra time to stay focused. The process to prepare them to learn to read will be more efficient.
