Start the Day Off “Write”
Funded Feb 12, 2024My students use these resources in class every day. The notebooks, pens, and pencils help my students complete the work we do in my English class.
The composition notebooks have been extremely helpful as we have quick writes several days to share their thoughts with a posted prompts. They have also used the notebook paper to construct flash drafts and other essays. Having the paper supplies is beneficial for them to share their thoughts as they hone their craft
Along with the notebooks and paper, the writing pens and pencils are much needed for their writing assignments.
Thank you so much for contributing to the my students' needs for composition.”

Noses in Books
Funded Sep 12, 2021Some of the skills our class has used is to have a character analysis in the plot. We identify character's thoughts, what they say and do, and how it impacts the story. I have a diverse demographic, so some students lean toward the genre of Fitting In (Or Not) in High School and So You Think You're a Tough Guy. Many students are into the dystopian genre of I Survived the Future. I'm thrilled we have a variety of texts to offer them.
We usually start off our day with sustained , silent reading, and the students have to jot down 2 reflections of their reading.”

Dive Into Reading
Funded Dec 30, 2022With your donation, my students have the supplies they need to leaen and be successful.
The highlighter's help them annotate the passages we read in class. They can identify figurative language and craft moves of the author more easily. The variate of highlighters are helpful with ratiocination of their responses to questions. It helps them see that they have a well/-developed response.
The novels we added give more variety from which to select. If they are not familiar with the author or not as interested in the genre , they are encouraged to give new titles a try.
With your donation, our students can experience new literature and have some tools to reflect on their reading.”

Literature and Learning
Funded Nov 29, 2022Thank you SO much for your generous contributions to our classroom. My students were thrilled to get their own of The Great Gatsby to annotate, and they had numerous supplies to use to analyze and reflect on our reading.
We appreciate the generosity of the classroom materials that we can use in our analysis as well. The highlighters help a lot with ratiocination on our texts and give us insight on how best to have a complete response to a question about the text.
The reading journals also help in keeping track of books read, notes made in our reflections, and reference materials to utilize in our reading and writing.
Thank you, again, for all your support to encourage literacy. The variety of novels help to reach those who like a certain author or genre. The students were thrilled to see some cool, new books to dive into.”

Mrs. Shipley
This classroom project was brought to life by an Anonymous Classroom Supporter and 8 other donors.Noses in Books
Funded Aug 6, 2021We have been thoroughly enjoying the new, classroom library that we acquired at the beginning of the school year.
Many of the titles gained an interest with the socio-economic interest of my students as our campus is predominantly Hispanic and African-American. With similar interests and lifestyles, several titles were sought out to be enjoyed during our sustained, silent reading time at the beginning of each class period.
"The Hate U Give" was a popular title as the students could relate to the protagonist's daily life. Learning to deal with everyday situations as well as navigating through high school made it a popular title, and both copies were usually checked out.
Another title the young men navigated to was "Snitch". It really piqued their interest as encouraged them to get a book in their hand. It was wonderful to see some reluctant readers enjoy their novels, and it was amazing to see many of them complete their book!
We are so thankful for those who contributed to our classroom library. Thank you for helping to foster a love of reading.”
