  • Challenge Me and I Will Succeed

    Funded Dec 6, 2014

I would like to sincerely thank everyone of you for donating to our project. The students have been enjoying reading and learning the rules and how to play each game, along with allowing them the opportunity to engage and interact with each other.

Not only are they learning how to start a conversation with each other, but with some of the games they are learning functional academic information. They are starting to develop and understand the meaning of competitiveness.

We will keep you updated on their progress along with pictures.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Rotini

  • Creativity Through Expression

    Funded Sep 7, 2014

Having the new printer has allowed us to create visual supports and lesson for our students. The students were excited when it arrived. We immediately started making flash cards and spelling word cards in color, which our students respond to with more interest. They are visual learners, and having the ability to present them supports in color, draws them in, peaks their interest, and allows them a more clearer understanding of what is being presented.

It also allows us to create the visual supports for a lesson, writing the steps in written form, then having a picture for the students that struggle with understanding language. In addition, it allows them to give better descriptions because they see they material presented in picture form.

On behalf of the entire classroom and staff, we sincerely thank-you for your generosity and kindness. We are very humbled by your thoughtfulness and giving them the opportunity to succeed.

  • Sensory Calms Us

    Funded Aug 10, 2014

The sensory materials you all have donated, have helped the students in so many ways. Sensory breaks are vital to them for many reasons. It helps them participate in structured activities, that use their motor skills and manipulation skills required to calm and relax them. They the can continue with academic lessons and group work, having had their sensory needs met.

When the materials arrived, the students stood around myself as we all opened the boxes. Their eyes all lit up with excitement when they saw the variety of materials you all donated. Individually they asked, " Where did they come from", "Who gave them to us", "Where are the people", "Can we thank them".

Their attending times at task has increased, They are sitting more calmly and listening more carefully, the quality of their work is improving, having met their internal needs. It was so vital to be able to offer these strategies to the students, and with all of you generous donations, we were able to accomplish this.

With sincere thanks and humility we thank-you for your kindness and generosity.

  • Seeing the World Through Our Eyes

    Funded Aug 2, 2014

The students have been been so excited to have resources to help them interpret via a picture, then integrate that into a writing assignment. They create pictures that depict their interpretation of what they have been read to, or read. They describe what their picture depicts with each other, then are facilitated to write it as they told the class. Through writing and editing, they create stories and answer questions, and are assigned a grade.

We have observed in the limited time we have the resources, having ability to draw, discuss, correct the drawing if they feel they have left something out, and had more confidence in what they are doing. Being able to verbally talk about what they draw, has made it easier to remember what they say.

It's on the level of listening to their peers, their interpretations, and integrate it with their own perceptions. Its a way of looking at it from many perspectives. They appear more self confident and excited to write.

Thank you for your generous contribution and giving the students much needed resources.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Rotini

  • See it, Say it, Draw, It, and Smile

    Funded May 8, 2013

To all of the incredibly generous benefactors,

It is with sincere gratitude that I thank all of you for your incredibly generous contributions. By purchasing these materials, the students are able to express their knowledge by creating visual representations, demonstrating their interpretation, understanding, and comprehension of the Language Arts instruction. The tactile materials allow them to receive the necessary input they require to stay focused and interested.

By funding this project, they have become more involved in the curriculum. Their tactile, visual, and individualized needs are being supported, which allows them to actively participate, along with modeled support.

We will periodically report our progress to show what the students have learned. We have already seen how much it has changed, and are excited to share this with all of you.

    With sincere gratitude,

    Samuel G. Rotini”

  • Keeping Up With Technology

    Funded Dec 14, 2012

I just wanted to extend my personal thanks for your generous contribution to the classroom. The students have been using them to read and research information needed to reach their yearly goals. It has taught them many new strategies and has reinforced their participation along with attending skills. Since they learn by visual means in conjunction with reading and comprehension, the ability to have the tablets right in front of them, and see the actual visual representation has increased their enthusiasm.

Being from an inner-city district, it has been difficult for our classroom to effectively attain some of the goals set, because of budget restraints and the ability to tap into resources that are desparately needed.

You generous contirbution has made it possible for them to access the needed resources to work towards their goals.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Rotini

  • Hands On For Sensory

    Funded Nov 16, 2012

Thank you very much for your generosity funding our project Hands On for Sensory. We received all of the materials and use them every single school day. They are helping my students in so many ways. The dough is calming for them allowing them to squeeze and meet many of their sensory needs. In addition, many of my students are so creative and I love to see what they build. The snap beads and lacing beads help to build their coordination and fine motor skills. The bristle blocks are also a classroom favorite. It has been very helpful for my class to have so many different choices for their sensory needs. I know that we would not have all of these choices and opportunities without your support and generosity. I would also like to apologize for my late thank you. I took some time off in December due to an unexpected medical issue and am working on getting caught up with many things! Thank you again for your help. I can assure you that the impact has been profound on my students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Rotini

  • Reading is Fundamental

    Funded Oct 10, 2012

The listening center, headphones, and junction box have arrived and we are in the process of using them in our daily lessons. My students have enjoyed choosing stories to listen to and read along with. It helps them to make choices and gives them the opportunity to independently enjoy stories. Because it is a new system, it is reassuring to know that when we need it , it will be in working order. The headphones allow them to filter out distracting noises and to focus on the story and enjoy it without interruption.

Thank you again for your generosity. It has made a huge impact in the classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Rotini
