  • Basically, We're Ready!

    Funded Feb 6, 2020

Thank you so much for all of your generosity and support! Our class is so excited to begin using these items to help us prepare for our state tests! We know we’re ready, but these supplies will help us bring what we know to life and make it fun and engaging!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Salmon

  • Oh the Places We'll Go!

    Funded Apr 12, 2019

Thank you so much for your contributions towards our bus! Our students were able to ride a charter bus to Universal Studios as their end of the year trip. While there they were able to face their fears, use their imaginations, and create life long memories. Many of our students had never been to a theme park and by your generosity, they were able to make some of their dreams come true.

Our trip was amazing! The students laughed and played and enjoyed each others company one last time as 5th graders before they went on to middle school. We rode roller coasters, visited the Wizarding World of Harry Potter (a personal favorite of mine) and tackled the much feared Mummy Ride.

Once we got back to the classroom there was a sense of unity and bittersweet emotions. We were excited for the next chapter they would face, but sad to see them leave. Our class was truly special and they were forever grateful for your gifts and support.”

  • To Technology and Beyond!

    Funded Dec 15, 2018

I cannot express how grateful my students were to learn that they would now have an iPad and Apple Pen in the classroom. Their faces were in awe as I unboxed and opened our new class tools. Since then, my students have used the iPad daily to compensate for missing laptops when they take their daily online quizzes, play kahoots, and work on iReady. Beyond that, students have started to make math tutorial videos to help each other learn how to do math topics. Students have begun to use the Apple Pen as a virtual pencil to show their work when we play games.

For my students, the most exciting thing about our iPad and pen has been the abilities to create videos in flexible spaces in our room. They have been able to easily use the iPad in any space and use their creativity and knowledge to help each other. They like the independence it has given them and the opportunities to use a tool that many do not have access to at home.

In the future I am planning on incorporating a science podcast center into our classroom, and I know that my students will jump at the opportunity to use our new tools to talk and create conversations about science. While our lives are becoming more and more intertwined with technology, it is important to teach our students the true value that technology has and the endless opportunities it provides them to create and produce rather than only take in.

From the bottom of our hearts, my amazing fifth graders are beyond thankful for everyone's generous contributions and acts of kindness.”

    With gratitude,

  • A Magic School Bus Ride to Kennedy Space Center!

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Our trip to Kennedy Space center was nothing short of magical! Our students were blown away before even stepping off the bus! They gasped as they saw the far away space ships and the welcome sign to Kennedy Space Center. From that point on, they were just in awe of everything they saw. We had an amazing time! The bus ride was smooth, the park was amazing, and each an every student went home with a sense of wonder for what lies beyond the stars.

Upon arriving, our students were greeted by a park leader that started they're journey with a scavenger hunt and then a quick tour of the park. Later they were escorted to meet a former astronaut, Brian Duffy. The biggest highlight was watching my students gasp as the space shuttle Atlantis was unveiled later in the evening. They couldn't believe they would be sleeping under it and that it had once been in space. My bright energetic students now knew that it was possible to reach for the stars and be successful.

After returning back to the classroom, our room buzzed with excitement and students hatched plans for how they would become astronauts or engineers and one day find a way to change the world. It's with no doubt in my mind that I know they will. Our sincerest thanks go out to each and every one of you for the impact you had in my student's lives and allowing them to have a magical bus ride to Kennedy Space Center!”

Our school is proud to offer our students as many opportunities as possible to engage and be active participants in their learning. By having iPads in the classroom, we will provide them with a tool that allows students to bring what they have learned to life. How amazing would it be to have a group of students in your class create a music video that explains the scientific method? By having iPads in the classroom, my students will have the tools they need to be active and mobile while applying what they know to an interesting and tech savvy presentation. Today's learners are born to create, and with iPads, they will have a multitude of opportunities to do so at their fingertips. Through movies, powerpoints, webs, vocabulary review students will be able to take what they have learned in class and demonstrate a deeper understanding. Furthermore, iPads provide an array of applications that could be integrated into our daily learning. Through ClassDojo, students can create portfolios of their work and IPads would facilitate this. Students can use flexible seating in the classroom and watch NASA's latest probe land on Mars, the possibilities are endless. Please help my amazing 5th graders obtain 2 iPads for their classroom to help them become a part of the learning process and take control of it.
