  • Show It and Share It!

    Funded Nov 16, 2018

Thank you so much for donating to our classroom elmo project. We are so greatly appreciative to have received the elmo. We had a minor hiccup with technology and were unable to connect our elmo , but we can't wait to hook it up and get a chance to use it every single day.

It will also for us to show and display student work, model strategies aloud, and so much more. Students learn so much better when they are given a concrete visual example, and the elmo will help us do just that.

Thank you so much for your generosity.

We cannot thank you enough for the impact that you have made on our classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sadaf

  • The Case of the Missing Rug!

    Funded Nov 7, 2015

Thank you all so much for contributing towards our brand new rug. When we first saw the rug, the custodian had taken it out of the box and placed it exactly where it would be, in the library area. We all walked in and were surprised when we saw it. We didn't expect to receive it so soon! It was so nice to see how happy my students were when they saw he rug. It was really a wonderful surprise.

We have been utilizing our rug each and every day.

We are now able to have a place to sit and read to our kindergarten book buddies comfortably, we are able to read in the library, have small groups for math, and even relax on the rug during read aloud.

My students and I truly appreciate your generosity, love, and support. We are excited to continue using our rug each day, and will think of you when we continue to use it!

    Thanks again for everything!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sadaf

  • 33 Kids and No Desks in Sight?!

    Funded Sep 17, 2015

I came into my classroom yesterday morning, and there was a box that was delivered to my room while the students were working. We didn't know for sure, but my students whispered.. "are those the seat sacks?!". I told them that I didn't know, but that I really hoped so. We opened up the box to find that they were in fact seat sacks! What a wonderful surprise!

So I wanted to reach out in order to express not only my appreciation for the seat sacks, but also my students' appreciation. They are so excited to be able to organize their belongings in their own seat sacks, and the room is less cluttered since we were able to get rid of the individual bins that sat underneath their chairs. My students will be able to focus more on learning rather than fighting for space.

This was all made possible thanks to you!”

    Ms. Sadaf

  • Lacking in the Technology Department! How? It's 2010...

    Funded Dec 8, 2010

I can't thank you enough for your generous donation to my students and my classroom. We started off this year by not having a functioning computer with Internet access, and our printer didn't have any toner that would allow us to print.

Many of my students do not have access to computers at home, and by donating a laptop to our classroom, you have enabled many students to come into school and work on class assignments and projects using technology.

My students were studying the Lewis and Clark Expedition and created Non Fiction Scrapbooks. They were able to research in groups and print information on their topics using our class laptop. We then presented our books at Barnes and Noble and conducted a book reading! Without you, my students wouldn't have had these experiences.

My students and I are very grateful!”

  • My Gifted and Talented Youngsters Need ART!

    Funded Jan 1, 2010

Thank you so much for your generous donations to my class.

My students have been eager to use the very special art supplies that we now have every single day.

I have been able to infuse art into many of my daily lessons, and students are able to use watercolors, oil pastels and other supplies in their creations, making them more and more beautiful.

We have currently been working on a poetry unit for reading and writing. My students have been able to use the art supplies that you have donated, in order to create pictures that inspire them to write poetry. My students and I are very grateful, and we appreciate your kindness very much. ”

  • Where Does the Red Fern Grow?

    Funded Dec 21, 2009

Thank you so very much for kindly donating a class set of "Where the Red Fern Grows" to my class. This classic novel exposed my students to life in the country, which was what they are not used to, being that they are city kids.

My students thoroughly enjoyed and loved this book so much, that they were eager to pull it out to read each day. Without your kindness, my students would have had to listen to me as I read aloud to them, and each student was now able to have a copy of the book to read in school and at home.

This book was such a great success with my students that it has motivated me to try to obtain funding for class sets of novels in the future. Each student having their own copy of a book makes a world of difference in the classroom! There are so many more engaging activities and projects that we can do!

My class showed such a joy in reading, and we were all so sad when this book came to an end.

    Thank you again.

    We all greatly appreciate it.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sadaf

  • Keep Printing Away!

    Funded Nov 27, 2009

Thank you so much for your donation to this project. My students and I were thrilled once we found out how quickly this project was funded. My students are appreciative for people like you who choose to donate to schools in need, like us.

Although we are a gifted and talented school, we are located in a high needs community. My students need as much support possible when it comes to having supplies and materials. Without people like you, my students would be unable to complete assignments on the computer and print their work. Even though this is what that they need to further their learning!

Many of my students do not have functioning printers, or even computers at home. They depend on the ones that we have in school, and since our printer was jammed with paper, we weren't able to print anything. So we received a printer from Donors Choose, and then needed extra toner/supplies for our printer in order for students to consistently use this resource.

The supplies for our printer that you have kindly funded will enable students to be able to type their work either on our class computer, or at home (without having to hand write all of their work) and print out the writing assignments that they have worked so hard on.

With these supplies, students will now be able to go on the computer, edit their work, and simply re-print. Students will not have restrictions and will be able to print their work often!

    We are very grateful.

Thank you so very much for your kindness and generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sadaf

  • Just Print Away!

    Funded Nov 23, 2009

Thank you so much for your donation to this project. My students and I were very excited once we found out that this project was funded. My students are well aware of DonorsChoose, and we have discussed how there are people who donate, and give to students in need.

My students are gifted and talented, and being that we are in a high needs area, they need as much support as they can get when it comes to supplies and materials. Without people like you, my students are unable to complete the enrichment and extension activities that they need to further their learning!

Many of my students do not have functioning printers, or even computers at home. They depend on the ones that we have in school, and since our printer was jammed with paper, we haven't been able to print a thing! Our school printer isn't covered by warranty, so without your help- we wouldn't have a printer in our classroom.

The printer that you have kindly funded will enable students to be able to type their work either on our class computer, or at home (without having to hand write all of their work) and print out the writing assignments that they have worked so hard on.

It will save revision time, since students will now be able to go on the computer, edit their work, and simply re-print.

    We are excited, and grateful.

Thank you so very much for your kindness and generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sadaf

  • Help Us Keep Calm, Cool And Collected

    Funded Jan 29, 2009

Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity. Without your donations our classroom would still be an uncomfortable place to learn during the hot summer months. We have been using our portable air conditioner that has been purchased with your help and we are so thankful.

You have made a difference lives of my students, some who have never been in an air conditioned classroom before! It is hard to believe, but unfortunately true. The children are able to focus on learning as much as they can before this year has to come to an end. Thank you again, for not only making a difference for my students this year, but for my future students as well.”

    With gratitude,

  • Chair Sox! Help Us Create Storage Space For Our Supplies!

    Funded Sep 7, 2008

I am very excited that you funded my project. My 5th graders will surely benefit from these seat sacks. Now we can really get organized! We have been using baskets at each table, and they haven't been very useful. Now each child can have his/her own space.

    Thank you so very much”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sadaf

I teach fifth grade in New York City in a school that emphasizes social action and global studies. Our school is made up of students that come from all backgrounds. I teach in an ICT setting and the students that make up my classroom are eager to learn. One thing that we are working on is learning research skills and being able to use technology to become tech savvy in today's world. Another is becoming more independent as we end the last year of our Elementary School Career and prepare for Middle School!
