Room to Grow: Organizing Minds, Bodies, and Learning in Speech
Funded Aug 27, 2024I am writing to express my deepest gratitude for your generous contributions to my speech room. The new table has been an absolute game-changer, giving each student the space they need to feel comfortable and focused. The difference in their attention and engagement is remarkable. Having their own personal space has made them feel more at ease, which has led to noticeable improvements in their work.
The wobble feet for the chairs have been a favorite among many of my students! They love the flexibility they provide, and it has helped them stay engaged and attentive during our sessions.
The large calendar has also become a central part of our routine. I use it in most sessions to organize assignments and help students understand when events are happening and how far away they are. This has been invaluable in teaching calendar concepts, tracking important events, and even marking holidays. It's been a great tool for improving both organization and time awareness.
Additionally, thanks to your support, I've been able to print a variety of resources for my students, which has been especially critical this year as some students do not have devices to complete tasks digitially. These printed materials have been an essential tool in keeping our learning organized and effective.
Your donations have truly made a significant impact on my students' learning experience, and I can't thank you enough for helping to create an environment that supports their growth.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Roth
Support for Speech and Language!
Funded Oct 7, 2021Thank you again for your support of this project. With the new printer, I have been able to provide my students with many different activities to help them with their speech and language needs.
One of my students benefits from a hard copy of an independent reading level book along with differentiated questions to help him complete independent reading time in his classroom. I am able to easily print out books and questions with pictures on them, for him to use.
I have also been able to print out writing checklists and graphic organizers for my students to use during our sessions and in their classrooms. This has helped with generalization of skills.
Me and my students greatly appreciate you donating to this fundraiser.”

Must Love Books! Help Expand My Speech & Language Library!
Funded Oct 21, 2021Thank you again so much your generous donation to our book project. These books have been so incredibly beneficial for my students. They have enjoyed reading about different cultures and experiences. Many of them are able to see characters that they can relate to!
The variety of books have helped students learn new vocabulary, develop their story retell skills, answer different wh-questions and practice their articulation sounds. Students have also been practicing their writing skills by writing about the parts of the books!
Your generosity is greatly appreciated.”

Funded Dec 14, 2016Thank you again for supporting my Donors Choose project that provided us with supplies to combat the spread of germs and facilitate a healthy environment. The kids were excited to help open the boxes when they arrived! They were almost as happy as me!
Having access to a large supply of tissues has been a huge help in my room. During winter, there is an influx of runny noses and coughing. Having tissues readily available minimizes the spread of germs and helps students learn how to take care of their colds. We love being able to clean the therapy table and electronics after each student or groups! My students no longer have to leave the room to find tissues or paper towels, which lets us get a lot more work done during my short sessions. Your generous donations have helped facilitate this.
My students have really enjoyed using the different colored white board markers! Having thin markers makes it easy for them to write and draw. Some of my students do not enjoy writing, as this skill is difficult for them. They are more open to practicing writing when they get to use the markers! The markers also allow me to quickly write down directions, make checklists, and create in-the-moment behavior charts without wasting paper. Many of my students with special needs benefit from visual supports to assist in understanding spoken language. When I notice one of my students is struggling to understand an assignment or direction, I can grab the markers and white board to assist them. These are a huge asset in my room!
I truly appreciate your generosity! Without your help, I would struggle to provide my students with a healthy speech room! Thank you.”

Funded Nov 13, 2015Thank you again for supporting my Donors Choose project! Having a color printer and a laser printer has had a large impact on my students and myself. Since receiving the printers, they have been used daily to print out resources like texts for my students to read, visual supports for my students to refer to in therapy and class, and photos to help them learn new vocabulary! I no longer have to worry about running out of ink because of your generous donations.
I service students with a variety of special needs, including those who have limited oral language. Having a laser printer has given me the opportunity to create many communication boards to help these students express their wants, needs, and ideas. One of my students has made progress in expressing himself using longer sentences from a visual support I was able to print! Another student asks every week if he can type and print out the multiple paragraph text he has drafted during our sessions. This is coming from a student who at the beginning of the year would only write 1-2 sentences. Now that we can print his work, he looks forward to writing, so he can share his published pieces with his teacher and parents. He is overjoyed to be a published author!
Your kindness has helped my students progress in their speech and language abilities. Thank you so much for choosing to support us!”
