New Reading Resources to Motivate Little Readers
Funded Aug 12, 2021Thank you for your generous donation to my project, New Reading Resources to Motivate Little Readers. Because of you, my students will receive much needed headphones to access online reading sites, leveled reading books, new phonic materials and lots of fun books to motivate students to read. I can't wait to see their face light up with the foam paint when they experiment with writing sight words and certain learned word patterns. Again, thank you so much for giving my students this exciting opportunity to explore new reading resources and support their excitement for learning!”
With gratitude,

Funded Nov 7, 2018Since your donation, my preschool, kindergarten, first and 2nd graders have been given the opportunity to explore a world of digital learning with the help of Speakaboos Media Lab Edition Digital Interactive subscription, Flovocabulary subscription and BrainPOP subscription for ELL students. Students have been more excited and motivated about learning as a result. I teach reading, writing, and math to special needs students and what your donation has brought to my students has been significant. Now, they have access to 3 headphones in which they are able to listen and focus more on their phonic skills in a quieter setting while on a schoolwide ipad.
Also, my students look forward to watching videos from Flovocabulary. They cannot get enough of the Science and Math videos especially. They are like a sponge when they watch the Life Cycle. I like how this video captures several species and especially the butterfly in which ties in with our curriculum standard when we look at the life cycle of the butterfly in a few more months. They wanted to explore The Sun and Heat Convection. They like the music because they say it is "catchy" and "cool". My second graders are learning to regroup so the video on addition regrouping was very helpful for them. Odd and Even numbers was also a favorite. The tune got students to sing along. As a teacher, Flovocabulary is my "go to" especially when I introduce a new concept or want to reinforce the concept because it captures my student's attention from beginning to end.
Speakaboos is also an added bonus! My preschoolers LOVE Speakaboos! They ask for a story every day from Speakaboos and Monsters and Princesses seem to be their favorites right now. I like that there is a Valentine story that I am looking forward to sharing with them on Valentines Day. Judging from their laughter and engagement, the moving pictures are a big hit as the story is read aloud by the recorded voice. Children run up to me as I walk into the room now asking for a story from Speakaboos.
BrainPop ELL is incredibly helpful for my ELL and students with learning disabilities. The videos are highly engaging and Robot Moby seems to be my student's favorite. Students are learning punctuation and capital letters at the beginning of sentences and BrainPop has a nice video that goes along with this writing standard for my students. I've used BrainPop for explaining subject and verb, and adjectives so far.
Thank you again for your generous donation and for giving my students the opportunity to learn with digital interactive technology and to access a more quieter space for learning with headphones.”
