  • Literacy Stations For a Solid Foundation

    Funded Nov 28, 2023

Thank you so much for supporting our classroom! The students were so excited to open the boxes and see the new resources we received. We opened some right away so we could test them out. They are all student tested and approved!

These resources have been used mainly during my small group reading time. I have been able to introduce a resource, such as the Simple Words Learning Locks in my group and then move them to an independent center. The students are doing a great job sounding out the words and finding the correct locks, it is a hit! I am able to reach a wide range of learners thanks to this project! I have items for students still working on letters such as the Find the Letter game. I also have items for students who are ready to start building words such as the Phonics Instant Learning Center.

We use the Essentials Toolkit daily in our groups. Students enjoy sounding out words with the magnetic chips and then being able to swipe all the chips up with their wands. It is engaging and purposeful. We will be able to use these toolkits with students at every ability level.

This project has helped to take our small group time to the next level. We are so thankful for you and your donations!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Metcalf

  • Let's Find Out

    Funded Aug 2, 2023

Thank you so much for supporting our classroom and our Scholastic News: Let's Find Out project!

The students have loved having their own "magazines" to read each week. After we complete the big version on our Brightlinks students take their magazines back to their seats. We look for letters, sight words, periods, question marks, and different text features. They also enjoy taking them home to share with their family.

We project the online version onto our board and the students are able to follow along. We enjoy all of the online videos and dance breaks that come with each issue.

Our new magazines help me incorporate more Science and Social Studies into our week! Thank you again for supporting our classroom.”

    With gratitude,

  • Choo Choo! All Aboard for Literacy Stations!

    Funded May 3, 2022

Thank you so much for donating to our project! We received our items at the end of last school year so we have just started using them during our literacy block.

The students are so excited to play our new game Splash! and I love that I am to differentiate for my groups with a variety of games. The Match and Sort Language Quickies have also been a hit! They are easy to use and explain. The students can use them independently or with a partner which is great. They are also helpful because I can use them with students on a variety of levels. Thank you again for your support!”

  • Brick by Brick - Building Life Long Learners

    Funded Dec 3, 2019

I can't tell you just how excited my students were when we received our Lego kits! We spent lots of time inspecting them and then it was time to dig in! It was like Christmas morning! We opened boxes, sorted and started to build.

The Lego sets are sought after in our center rotations and they are used almost daily.

The students love creating different kinds of vehicles with our "Vehicle set". They are so creative! I think my favorite so far was the pizza bus one of the students created.

The "Community Set" allows the students to create their own little community, completed with homes, people, pets, and out door items. Their houses and buildings have never looked better, thanks to the extra doors, windows and roof tiles we have! Their newest obsession is including cameras on the outsides of their houses!

The STEAM Park is a huge hit! Sometimes students use the included cards to help them build structures and sometimes they just let their imagination lead them. They love the pulleys and tracks that help them enable different items to move.

They are builders, critical thinkers and teammates! Thank you for your generosity and helping to make it all possible!”

  • Our Listening Center Is Lit!

    Funded Mar 17, 2019

We are settling into our new school year and school! The students were so excited as I introduced new items for them to use each day!

I started by introducing our floor cushions. The students enjoy getting one of the comfy circles and finding a quiet place around our new room to read. We are also using these during small group time to define the different centers/spaces for the students to work.

I recently introduced the Kindle Fires and the students are learning how to use them properly. We have practiced walking with them and just listening to stories on them. Soon students will learn how to use the QR scanner app. Next week they will be using the QR app and the Kindles to "Read the Room" to learn about different American Symbols. From there we will move to using the app to listen to stories of their choice. They are excited to be able to share a story with a friend and the 5-way jack splitters make that happen!

Thank you for supporting my students and our classroom!”

  • Brain Boosters! A "Fine" Way to Start Our Day!

    Funded Aug 9, 2018

We were so excited to dig into our packages! The students oohed and aahed as we unboxed the new station materials that they would be able to use. We received so many items that they had never seen or heard of before and that just added to their excitement.

Your kindness has made such an impact on my kindergarten and first grade students. They are working collaboratively to build cars and spaceships. The playdoh gives them a tactile material that helps develop their fine motor skills and also create. The magnatiles have been a huge hit! They love creating their own ferris wheel and cars!

My students enjoy being able the use these brain boosting activities all throughout the day, not just in the morning. They are working on so many skills but they just think they are playing, I love it!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Metcalf

With such a busy academic schedule each day, students need time to boost their creative thinking and work on their fine motor skills. Replacing work sheets with brain booster stations gives students the chance to work collaboratively with their peers to create something all their own. Creativity is the key to learning! The Froogz Suction Toy Construction set will allow my students to use their imaginations to create unique shapes and structures. The Magnetic Blocks & Legos will aide in the students understanding of 2D & 3D shapes. Exploring with these types of materials will enhance their math and speaking/listening skills when working in small groups. The water beads will be utilized in a sensory bin where students can work on reading, math or even science skills. Student will use the tweezers to retrieve information from inside the bin. Allowing creative thinking provides students a way of examining and discovering the world around them.
