Daily, maximizing literacy is priority #1 in my classroom. With limited resources, the students are relying on auditory learning, but they also need to feel the letters in their hands to form the words, connect multiple words to build a phrase and, ultimately, leverage proper grammar to craft their complete thought. These tools would be of great value every single day in our classroom. I would use these tools in their daily centers for word work and team projects, as well as constant resources for them to access during independent reading. During guided reading, I could use the small easel during the lessons to present large books. This is lacking in my room now so I often have to juggle the books, clipboard and reading tools at once, which wastes time. I predict the easel would easily become a gem in my classroom in no time! The magnetic tiles letters, compound words and plurals set kits will inspire them to practice forming new words during their Word Work center time, while both the English Language Development and the Vocabulary Development Photo Card Library set can serve as important tools for them to advance their new language skills. My first grade bilingual students need the tools I'm requesting to practice, practice, practice and learn, learn, learn. It is at this age that it becomes critical to raise our students as readers. I'm asking for your support to do this!
