The following materials will open limitless possibilities for students to self-produce and accompany themselves through basic studio production. In the current classroom space, the ceilings are high and covered will tile floors. This creates a lot of reverb and is not ideal for recording without feedback and white noise. I imagine two of our closet spaces to be turned into intimate spaces in which students can let out their most vulnerable thoughts and feelings with artistic guidance. These two closet spaces are secured through keys in which only I have access to. In addition, I imagine two separate piano practice spaces along the windowsills to learn piano at their own pace through guided practice without distractions. By creating two studio spaces, I hope the students at GWHS feel empowered, heard, and accepted in the music that they create on their own! These students have an interest in various types of music and are in desperate need of finding their own unique space and voice. There are even a few students who are interested more about the industry side of music, and I am curious to guide them through the realms of marketing, collaborations. The plan moving forward is to create management teams among their peers; giving them hands-on experience for the real world. I am excited to hear their stories, find connections, foster relationships, and honor the feelings that these students might be going through in a healthy, creative outlet. This will not only enhance the classroom environment, but future projects and collaborations among the department as well. My hopes is that these resources will help inspire the youth within our local community...and beyond :-)
