  • Resources to Start the Year Off With a Bang!

    Funded Sep 4, 2024

Thanks for investing in our classroom. My students were excited to receive the supplies and it helped us hit the ground running to start the year. This is the first year my students take the state writing assessment and the copy paper means that they will be able to practice their writing skills and publish their writings to hang on the walls of our school and at home.

in addition to the paper, pencils, and crayons, the new speakers has improved the audio-visual aspects of our classroom. Since we use technology in our classroom, this new bluetooth speaker has allowed us to immerse ourselves in the visual and audio aspects of our lessons. It even makes us more active because we can music when we are outside at recess.

As we push forward we are looking to improve out writing skills by learning keyboarding skills. We have ipads and will be looking to get a class set of keyboards to further support us in out writing journey.”

  • Sphero the Coding (and Problem-Solving) Hero

    Funded Dec 29, 2023

Wow, thanks for helping our students get these amazing resources for our class. These Sphero Minis have motivated my students to start their own coding club. They come in early and have a "working" lunch coding their Sphero robots. Building the courses for the Sphero has helped them understand angles and three-dimensional shapes. They have also been able to further develop their math skills when it comes to understanding circles and time.

The Sphero is engaging and since the students are able to program it to do different courses, they are always motivated to push it to its limits. The different courses challenge them to apply different skills to get the Sphero to complete the obstacle courses. I have a waiting list of students who want to join my coding club, so I will hope to get more Spheros to add more students.

Surprisingly, my girls have been the harbingers of the coding club. They have been very enthusiastic about learning to code and have become trainers for new students who come into the program. In this way, their leadership abilities are growing as well as science and math skills.”

  • Build Our Brains by Building Our Library

    Funded Dec 5, 2023

These new books were high interest books requested by my students. These books will help my students become more fluent readers and expose them to new vocabulary. They were so excited when we received them that we decided as a class to have everyone (even the teacher) take one home over Christmas Break and do a report.

In our classroom we try to give students opportunities to read a variety of books, so that they are exposed to different characters and experiences. Many of many students do not get to travel and experience much outside of their local community, so these boos are like a windows to the world for many of them.

We had to remove some books from our library because they were old and because of new laws in our state. These new books help fill many of those empty spaces and motivated my students to reengage with our updated library. Thanks much.”

  • Encouraging Young Engineers

    Funded Nov 27, 2023

Wow, thanks for the great science resources. Our Earth in Space Unit ends with us learning about NASA and the Kennedy Space Center. Because of your generosity, we we able to build and launch model rockets as a culminating activity. You can see the students excitement as they became "rocket scientists" and launched rockets they built with their own hands.

When the resources were received, their was a palpable excitement in the classroom. My students and I were very grateful to get resources that allows then to do some hands-on science activities.

In January we will be embarking on a coding project using Sphero robots.

  • Expanding Our View to Increase Productivity

    Funded Sep 11, 2023

Thanks for investing in our future. The monitors have given my students easy access to additional reading passages and math resources. They are always excited to work in small groups and use these new resources. It also allows us to save paper because the students have access to their work electronically.

I have attached additional mice so that they can manipulate the screens to answer questions, work out math problems, and identify evidence to support their answers. They love using them while working in pairs with their peers to find information for their writing passages.

We appreciate your contribution to our class room,”

  • Headphones and Storage for Eager Young Learners

    Funded Feb 8, 2023

These book bins have helped my students organize their materials. Prior to this, we stored books in boxes and things were always coming up missing, but now their storage area is as clean as a whistle.

The students were very excited when they received their book bins. They know that this would help keep them organized and make it easier to keep track of their resources. They literally "cheered" out loud and were very grateful for these resources.

I have a very mixed class with students who are gifted and others who have learning disabilities. These resources were really a blessing for my struggling learners as they helped them organize their materials and retrieve them in a timely and orderly manner. We cannot thank you enough for your donation to our classroom and my students' future.”

  • Motivating Young Writers and Publishers

    Funded Mar 27, 2023

This new printer has motivated my students to become exceptional writers. The excitement on their face when they see their poster being printed is palpable. It's also contagious as they all want to become published writers. It has improved our average writing score from a 5 to a 9.

Knowing that they have access to a color printer to publish their work fills them with energy. They want to be able to share their writing with their peers, their old teachers, and their families. The pride that they display when they get their copy, or see me hang one up in the hallway radiates positive energy. Many of these students have never experienced completing a project, so this positive reward encourages them to try harder in other areas of the curriculum.

My class has a cluster of special education students and I have seen their writings grow from one paragraph to 3 - 5 paragraphs consistently. They know the expectation and are working hard to have their work published alongside their peers.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Suggs

  • Blast Off and Explore the Solar System

    Funded Mar 23, 2022

My students and I were very grateful for the materials we received due to your kindness. We thank you for taking the time to read our proposal and finding it worthy of a donation. Our class got to build three-dimensional models of rockets and see chemical change in action as they their rockets blasted off. The excitement was palpable and the students' reaction to seeing their rockets launch is what every teacher hopes for.

They were excited to open the box when it arrived, and their energy became contagious upon opening the box and realizing that every student would get to build and launch their own rocket. This was a fantastic activity to end the year. 19 of my 22 students attended school on the last day, while the average class had five students, so obviously these resources motivated my students to come to school and finish what they started.”

  • Bringing Presentations and Projects to Life

    Funded Jan 14, 2021

Our old projector stopped working and this hindered the ability of my students and I to do presentations. Even though it did not get mounted until March 2021, the new projector has been a blessing for our classroom. We able to set it up on a cart and use it effectively. Not only does the projector allow me to add audiovisuals to my lessons, it allows the students to come up to the board and use our IPevo Interactive Smart Pen to solve problems. The classroom have become a livelier and more exciting space for my students.”
