  • Power for the Day

    Funded Sep 18, 2021

Thank you so much for your kindness and your generosity. These power towers will help us so much in the classroom. Our students now have their own laptops that they take home every day and need to charge before the next day. However that last part does not always happen. With a limited number of outlets that was a challenge during the day. But thanks to you we nog have an outlet for each laptop. Now the kids no longer have to worry about having to charge their laptop at home. Thank you very much for making this possible.”

  • Can You Hear Me Now?

    Funded Sep 8, 2021

Our students have been mandated by social distance requirements to be 3-6 feet away in their own personal space while having a Physical Education class in an indoor or outdoor setting. We want the best learning outcomes for our students by giving them an opportunity to clearly hear instructions while maintaining the social distance requirement.

Having this voice amplifier will be a valuable resource for our P.E. program and a benefit to our students' ability to engage in lessons. They will be able to hear us no matter where they are in the gym or outside. Thank you so much for making this happen, you are amazing.”

  • Masking Up for Healthy Learning

    Funded Sep 8, 2021

This year we are required to wear masks in school. Thanks to you, my students have masks to follow this mandate. Thank you so much for helping me to enable my students to have access to clean masks when they arrive, sneeze, cough, or just need a fresh one during the day. Most students are good about wearing a mask upon arrival, although sometimes they forget. Also, as we know, things can happen to a mask that causes it to need to be replaced. Thanks to you I am able to provide comfort and healthy options for my students. Thank you so much!”

  • More Books! Let's Make Learning About History More Interesting.

    Funded Sep 10, 2021

A difficult subject to teach children is history. For special education students especially, historical events can feel distant, sometimes boring, and unrelated to their current lives of video games, YouTube, and whatever new thing is capturing the attention of kids at the time you're reading this. That's where a good biography comes in. My kids love these books because they make reading fun and interesting for them. There are so many choices and there are many activities that we can do with them. Thank you so much for bringing this gift to our classroom.”

  • Ready, Set, Go Listen and Learn!

    Funded Aug 21, 2021

Listening is essential for learning to happen. In my classroom, I have students that have different learning styles. Thanks to you, we now have a listening center that will provide the differentiation that the students need to learn through listening. Many of my students are auditory learners, and this center will help my students become successful readers.

I want to give my students many different ways of learning to make it fun and interesting so that they enjoy learning using different ways of learning. The listening center will help accomplish this goal. The listening center will also be used for students who need to calm down, so they can listen to relaxing music. Thank you so much for bringing this project to life!”

  • Interactive Teaching With a Whiteboard

    Funded Jul 23, 2021

Imagine entering a classroom where you are able to create your own learning path. Where a variety of technology is available and you can be an active participant in your learning process. Wouldn't that be fun? Isn't that the best kind of classroom? The idea behind this project was to bring more technology into the class, to give the students tools that will allow them to be active learners. Thanks to you, a Mimio will now bring our lessons to life! Thank you so much for your generosity and for brining this wonderful technology to our classroom.”

For special education students especially, historical events can feel distant, sometimes boring, and unrelated to their current lives of video games, YouTube, and whatever new thing is capturing the attention of kids at the time you're reading this. That's where a good biography comes in.

The "Who Was" series profiles a very diverse group of historically and culturally significant people such as Amelia Earhart, Benedict Arnold, Neil Armstrong, Maya Angelou, Steve Jobs, and Michael Jordan.

The biographies are especially popular with students because they're relatively short and feature lots of engaging illustrations. The books also share a common goal: providing a comprehensive yet easy-to-understand biography for students that are fun and interesting to read. Topics become much more relatable and students can start making connections to our past as they learn about the person and the historical setting in which they lived. Most of the books are excellent for teaching and supporting a growth mindset, and readers are encouraged to explore their own potential for changing the world. Thank you so much for funding this project and adding these books to our classroom library.”

  • Fun with Butterflies

    Funded Aug 19, 2021

This project will enable my students to build a love for science and understand the transformation of insects and nature. We will use these butterfly kits for the students to observe the insects daily and watch the interaction in the habitat. The student will be able to learn that many animals have a life cycle and can change over a period of time.

I want to expand the science content in my classroom and have an array of opportunities for my students to engage with living things.

The students are excited to see new things in the classroom and to also develop ownership in helping taking care of living things. I'm ecstatic for my students to learn and gain a love for science through this project. Thank you for making this possible.”

My students and I are in a school just outside of Philadelphia. My students are a great bunch of kids that have a lot going on on an emotional level. They often have a lot of drama going on behind closed doors that few people know about. All they need is somebody to take the time to listen to them. Because of their background, they often have a lower reading level than what their grade level indicates. Most are better learners when they are taught differently than only from books.
