Having an abundant, up-to-date, and diverse classroom library will allow me as a teacher to direct students to books that can re-ignite their love of reading on-the-spot. Although we also have a campus library, there is a lost opportunity for real-time interest and curiosity when there isn't a collection of books available in an English classroom. The diverse selections on this list best reflect the diversity of my students lived experiences. Representation matters! And all students know this more than anyone. Reading can change lives and by senior year of high school, that passion for reading risks being lost forever.
