  • Computer Technology Skills for Pre-K

    Funded Sep 24, 2014

I want to thank you once again for your generosity in helping fund this project. My Pre-K students were so excited when they saw the Apple MacBook Pro delivered to our classroom! My students are absolutely thrilled to have this wonderful piece of technology accessible to them when they come to school!

Having the MacBook Pro has helped my students learn how to use the latest technology in computers. They know the basics of how to turn it off and on, how to use their finger to navigate the cursor without the use of a mouse, and also how to use their fingers on the screen to move the screen up and down and to get icons to appear on the screen.

My students now know how to access photo booth and are exploring the many features and they are having the time of their lives. In the future we will be learning how to use iBook author where the students will create their own books. The students have also been able to use the MacBook Pro to participate in the Hour of Code.

Thank you once again for your support and on behalf of my students and myself, I would like to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Ortega

  • iPod For Pre-K!

    Funded Aug 23, 2014

I wanted to thank you once more for helping me fund this project. I wanted to let you know that having the iPod touch in the classroom has really been a time-saver. Our morning songs are played from the iPod to our wireless speaker. I can now control the songs from the iPod and I don't have to go across the room to change the song on the Cd player. My students also get to hear a wider variety of music because the iPod stores so many songs that would otherwise be on a Cd. Cleaning up is fun now because when they hear the clean up song played, they know what to do. I can be anywhere in the room and play them their music.

An extra bonus with the iPod, are the educational apps that my students have been using during independent time. I love watching them learn, but at the same time having fun!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Ortega

  • iPad Mini for Pre-K

    Funded Aug 25, 2014

My Pre-K students were very excited to see that they had an iPad mini in their classroom. Most of them said that they already knew how to use one, but there were still a few that hadn't been exposed to using one. It was great seeing them get all excited to learn how to use it!

My students have been using the iPad mini during independent centers. They have been able to practice writing the letters and numbers that they are learning. They have also been able to practice some of their math skills! The iPad mini is a great teaching tool to have in the classroom!”

    Mrs. Ortega

  • Needed Supplies for Pre-K

    Funded Aug 24, 2014

Thank you again for supporting the education of my Pre-K class. My students have really been enjoying their new listening center! Thanks to the Read along storage unit, my students have a nice neat place to store the books, Cd's and headphones at the listening center. They love listening to their favorite books being read to them!

The other needed supplies have also been wonderful. My students are using the markers to practice writing their letters and numbers in a wipe-off book before they write with a pencil and paper. This practice really helps them learn how to write. The ink pads have already been used to make a flower art project using their hand prints, and the wiggly eyes are constantly being used for art projects.

Thank you again for helping the classroom acquire some basic tools for learning!”

  • Learning Materials for Pre-K with Big Hearts

    Funded Aug 23, 2014

My students were very excited when they saw all the learning supplies that the classroom received. They have been using the jump ropes at recess, and they're getting pretty good at it! They love using the pattern blocks and cards during small group instruction. The ten frames are a favorite! During small group instruction, the students love showing me, with their ten frames, numbers that I call out. This really re-enforces the ten frames concept and helps me see who still doesn't understand.

The learning games Cd's have been a great asset as well. The students love going on the computers and playing games that are fun and at the same time educational!

The other learning materials like the magnetic letters have been helping my students learn the alphabet and spell their names. My students love the big book of Old McDonald and want me to read it over and over and over again. Also, the balancing monkeys have really challenged some of my students with their balancing and math skills. Thanks again!”

    Mrs. Ortega

  • Music, Music Everywhere for Pre-K

    Funded Aug 22, 2014

Thank you so much again for helping fund this project. I wanted to let you know how lucky my Pre-K students are to have a wireless speaker in their classroom. Having the wireless speaker has enabled me to supply music to them anywhere they are. They get to hear music while they are at an independent center which is across from me. I have it loud enough so it doesn't interrupt the other centers. When it is clean-up time, I simply stop the music from the iPod, and they know it's stop and clean up. When they are playing outside they also get to hear fun music. The wireless speaker has allowed my students to be exposed to more music throughout their day and it's great to hear them singing the songs that they hear!”

  • Play-Doh for Pre-K

    Funded Aug 20, 2014

I wanted to let you know how grateful my students are for all the Play-Doh that their classroom received. You should have seen their little faces light up when they saw the boxes being delivered to the classroom. It felt like Christmas in August! They were so excited as they saw me take out the boxes of Play-Doh! They couldn't wait to get their little hands on it!

Having Play-Doh in the classroom for my Pre-K students to use everyday has been wonderful. During independent centers, they get to play with it and use their imagination to create all sorts of things. They have also been creating letters and numbers that they are learning!

Another item in this project was a boom box. The boom box has brought music to our classroom. Our other boom box wasn't working very well, and now we have clear music to listen to in the morning. We also use it to hear books in our listening center. Thank you for making a difference in our classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Ortega

  • Literacy for Pre-K

    Funded Feb 20, 2013

Thank you once again for your generous donation! All the wonderful learning materials that we received have been helping my students in their education.

My students love using the CVC work center to build simple words and this has boosted their confidence in reading and writing. The Pop and Win Sounds Bingo is a favorite. They love playing this game and it has enhanced their recognition of beginning sounds. The magnetic sight word sentence boards have also helped my students build simple sentences and has re-enforced their knowledge of high frequency words. All the materials received have been of tremendous help in making learning fun!

Thank you for your support in early education!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Ortega

  • Hands-On Manipulatives Needed for Pre-K

    Funded Feb 12, 2013

I want to thank you once again for your generous donations and for helping me fund my project. Because of your generosity, my students have been able to have fun learning materials placed into their little hands.

Rhyming is an important skill that my students are working on. The rhyming snap cards have made it fun for them to practice this skill. The hear myself phones have also assisted in helping them practice their rhyming skills along with reviewing the ABC's and blending simple CVC words. The tactile letters have tremendously helped some of my students in letter recognition and sounds.

Thank you for believing in early education and helping fund my project!”
