Just like adults, children prefer to be comfortable while they work. Every year, my students report that flexible seating options during independent work time was a favorite memory about our classroom. The time has come to update a few of the second hand seating options I've been using for years! I have seen how something as simple as student choice can help teachers engage students emotionally, creatively, and intellectually. Students enjoy learning in spaces that are modified based on their physical and academic development. The wipe-able couch, floor chair and ball chair are well-needed additions to our classroom. Once children are engaged, we are able to instill deep curiosity in learning that ultimately makes learning more fun!
