To prepare our students to be college and career ready, they need opportunities to interact with the latest technological resources - not outdated, broken down laptops with missing keys! My school is located on the Northwest side of Chicago in a community of hard working, middle class families. Since we are a public school, we do not receive sufficient funding for extra resources or materials, most notably anything technology based. Compared to many other Chicago Public Schools, the poverty rate at our school is relatively low, and since discretionary funding for schools are allocated based on the amount of low-income students, the technology at our school is lacking, to say the least. Much of what we do have has been purchased through fundraising efforts organized through the hard work and dedication of the wonderful families in and around our school community.
