Inspiring Excellence: Celebrating Diversity Through Music and Rewards
Funded Aug 19, 2024I wanted to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude for your generous contributions that fully funded my music project on DonorsChoose! While I am not new to teaching, this is my first year as an elementary Music teacher, and the supplies you provided have made such a significant difference in my classroom! I cannot begin to describe just how surprised and excited my students were when they saw the big pile of Amazon boxes in the back of my room! They were very eager to help me unpack every last item and even volunteered to come in during recess!
Your donations have been particularly helpful in planning our performances, including our recent Veterans Day Show and the upcoming Winter Concert. Previously, my students were lacking percussion equipment, but now we are excited to showcase songs using the handbells, tambourines, and jingle bells! The colored handbells have been a fantastic way to introduce reading and playing music to my 2nd and 3rd graders. At our school, recorders are introduced in 4th grade, and I wanted to provide an earlier opportunity for my younger students to engage with instruments, making their transition to the recorder much easier.
The handbell music books you donated have been a wonderful resource for my 2nd and 3rd graders. Our Veterans Day Show was particularly special, as we included the many donated American flags and had the honor of hosting the VMU-1 Marines Corps Color Guard as our special guests. Additionally, I have been reading music-related books to my Kindergarten through 2nd grade students, which has been a fun way to teach them the names of the notes on the Treble and Bass clefs. I have a "sticker store" in my room, using stickers as incentives and prizes, and the students are absolutely obsessed with them!
I am incredibly thankful for your many donations; they have truly helped make my first year as a Music teacher smooth and enjoyable.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Weber
