  • Booked for the Summer!

    Funded Aug 20, 2023

Thank you donors for your generosity. I am happy to announce that our project was fully funded! Our students will be excited to hear that they will have access to their favorite books. In these times, it is important for our students in Texas to have opportunities to enjoy stories intended for children.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. T.

  • Keeping Calm and Carry On

    Funded Aug 12, 2022

I wanted to take the time to thank you all for your generous donations for this project. Our students were able to achieve progress in the area of Social Emotional Learning thanks in large part to your support. Our students love music, and music helps them to learn how to express their emotions. These students were excited about getting to listen to music in the calm down corner.

Our plans for the materials we received for this project include making over our classroom and opening up a permanent space for our pea pod chair. This year, we will continue to use the materials provided (chair and cd players) to support our students' emotional growth.”

  • Color Printer for Bright Futures!

    Funded Feb 4, 2022

I wanted to take the time to share my thankfulness for your generous donations to this project. With your help, we were able to acquire a classroom printer that prints out color ink. As a special education teacher, I am always aware that our students need appropriate visual schedules and sometimes assignments with colorful visuals. When our students saw the visual schedules that I made for them, they were excited.

Our students would refer to their schedules daily, and because of your generosity, they were able to stay with their routines. This year , we look forward to creating more visuals and social stories with the help of the color printer.”

  • Un-Charted Territory!

    Funded Aug 12, 2022

I wanted to tell you of the tremendous impact that your generosity has had our classroom. The easel that was purchased is used for one of our workstations. Students throughout the year used it to respond to whole group lessons. They also referred to the anchor charts we made together when taking assessments or doing individual assignments.

With your help, our class was able to have access to engaging lessons and content. Students used flip charts throughout the school year. In addition, the computer chair was added to spaces for teachers to work with students. Our students loved working on flip charts, and we will continue to use them for coming school year.”

  • A Place at the Table

    Funded Feb 2, 2022

Thank you for your generosity. Our classroom culture was changed after we received your gifts. Our students were very excited to see the addition of a green kidney table. The table has become a valuable resource in our classroom.

We have rearranged our classroom a few times, and at first the green kidney table was used as a teacher workstation during whole group instruction. The color of the table matches the color of most of the chairs as well as the smaller parallel tables for students in the classroom. Students and observers like the color coordination of the room.

Our next project for our students is to continue to use the table for small group instruction, and have a few more centers in rotation. The lessons will incorporate students' IEP goals. I want to say thank you again for your support.”

  • An Apple (iPad) a Day

    Funded Aug 12, 2021

I wanted to take the time out of this holiday season to express my gratitude for your continued giving in keeping our classroom in your thoughts. For those of you all who have provided donations before, I have mentioned that our class has grown this year, and with more students, we need more technology available for students to complete their assignments with our online curriculum. We use iPads and desktop computers daily.

Our students were excited about having more technology available to them. Sometimes, because we are a special education classroom in a Title I school, our students do not have enough access to technology that they need. Our students enjoy working at the computer in our computer lab, for instance.

Greater access to technology means greater access to our specialized as well as the general curriculum. Thank you for your continued generosity and we hope you will join us for our next project when it is published.”

  • Lock on to Learning

    Funded Aug 19, 2021

I wanted to take the time out to express our gratitude for your generosity with this project, "Lock on to Learning." The number of students in our classroom has more than doubled this school year, and we were in desperate need of another set of lockers. At the present moment, our students use these lockers in their daily routines.

My students were excited to see the additional lockers. These materials freed up space for our students to store their personal belongings. We also had to rearrange the room, and that change also surprised the class.

Our classroom was recently rearranged due to the kindness of the local Special Education department. Our next classroom project will focus on adding more visual schedules for our students.”

  • The Time Is Always Write!

    Funded Jul 26, 2021

Our classroom is grateful for the tan writing easel that your donations provided to us. As soon as the gift arrived, we opened it up and set up the easel. The easel was placed in our classroom library.

Due to fact that our unit is located at a Title I school and special education class, we oftentimes lack the resources for the furniture and technology we need. The students were excited to see a new addition to the classroom. Recently, our classroom received a makeover.

We plan to continue working on our writing goals. We want to continue to make handwriting a bigger part of our morning meeting. Once more, hank you for your contribution to this project.”

  • A Lot of Learning In Store: Storage Space Needed

    Funded Jan 30, 2021

Our class wants to thank you for your generous donation. After receiving the gift, the classic birch coat lockers, we set them up in our classroom immediately. They fit perfectly in the spot where we had planned to put them. Our students used the lockers are part of our daily routine. Our students stored their lunch boxes, their library books, and back packs in the lockers.

Our students were surprised when the lockers arrived in February. It had been quite a year with us being a new unit on campus. It brought a better sense of routine and normalcy for our class to have lockers like every other class.

Next year our class size will double. We plan to rearrange the classroom to maximize instruction and address IEP goal needs. The placement of the lockers will be a crucial part of our plan. Again, thank you for your generosity as our class appreciates your support.”

  • Shining Towards Success: Chromebooks for a Life Skills Class

    Funded Aug 19, 2019

The impact of our two, new wireless blue tooth headphones as well as our two black Lenovo 100e Chromebooks has been tremendous. As soon as we as a class opened and setup the Chromebooks, we made them a regular part of our center rotations. Students work with our curriculum daily and their progress is evident.

Our classroom students are excited about the Chromebooks because they have access to our curriculum, Unique Learning System. Their reading scores are rising, and so they look forward to our Reading and Writing blocks respectively. Students also enjoy the sense of privacy they receive when they are using the Chromebooks as they are connected to the blue tooth wireless headphones.

Two of our students enjoy working in our classroom Library Center while using the Chromebooks. One is allowed to play academic games during centers. The other completes daily assignments. The students have taken ownership for their own education by maintaining and taking care of the Chromebook work area. Thank you, donors, once more for your generosity and bringing our students joy.”
