Question: How much can a dedicated and passionate person accomplish on his own in an inner-city school? Answer: Not as much as with a team of dedicated and passionate teachers. Six of us decided to start our own independent school in the same inner school area where we will have autonomy over curriculum, bell schedules, and the calendar. I had taught in the same inner-city school for 15 years and due to frustrations of constant change, lack of support I have recently left to start our own where we will have control over meetings, Professional Development, what the students will be learning in each grade and class, thus allowing us to more easily do vertical and horizontal planning. For many teachers - this would be a dream. And it is-but every dream needs some help, especially in the beginning. With your help we could start up our Literary Magazine and Journalism course. Thank you in advance.
