The biotechnology students are each embarking on their own journey of scientific greatness with a research project. As they experience the ups and downs on scientific exploration, I want to instill the need to apply ethics in their research. I have selected the book A Crack in Creation because it is a wonderful narrative of the discovery and ethical discussions behind the recent discovery of the CRISPR-Cas 9 gene editing system. To inspire a student to greatness, you must first give them an example. Dr Jennifer A. Doudna is a great example of ethical science and I want to share her story with my students.
