  • Do You Hear What I Hear?

    Funded May 5, 2020

Thank you so much for supporting our kids at Norwood Middle! These headphones could not have come at a better time. Especially during this pandemic, we are able to ensure all students are able to have their accommodations met while also keeping safe by using their very own headphones. Having a set for each class has helped minimize the shuffle of headphones from room to room and has helped keep down on the number of people who share! We can't thank you enough!

    Sincerely,

    6th grade staff from NWMS”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Kent

  • Have a Seat!

    Funded Jul 3, 2018

My students LOVE the chairs! As soon as they come in, they grab one of the stacked chairs and choose their perfect seating area. I no longer have students hunting for the perfect chair to use that day. They just choose whichever chair is on top. I use to have students opt to stand or sit in a desk during class time. Now, every student has a perfect and comfy seat to look forward to!

When the chairs arrived, the students couldn't wait to tear open the box. They were so excited about receiving new chairs. They couldn't believe someone would take the time and use their money purchase new chairs for them. I've never witnessed a more precious moment!

Currently my students are diving into energy and how it is all around them. They are also working through engineering design and are going to be great problem solvers. They are also working through a novel study that is leaving them in suspense! They will take a field trip to the Biltmore later in the year to view the setting of their book.

We greatly appreciate all the love and support you have given my kids at Norwood Middle!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Kent

Entering 6th grade is always full of so many emotions and changes. It's always fun to watch the students start out as shy young kids, and blossom into outgoing and crazy fun preteens! My students are creative, inquisitive, and love learning! They love classroom projects that are hands-on, engaging, and require them to create their own unique solutions. They question the world around them, and continue to work until they have found an answer. Their love and excitement for learning is what makes me love teaching! Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning. We do a lot of group work, group discussions, and hands on projects. We learn how to search for answers and new ideas, instead of expecting someone to tell us one answer. My kids are truly some of the best, and I am always excited and lucky to get such great learners every year.
