  • Fostering Creative Geniuses by Printing in Color

    Funded Aug 20, 2024

Thank you so much for your generosity. My students and I really appreciate your kindness and support in allowing us to not just be creative internally but to express our creativity externally in color print.

We look forward to expressing ourselves and the work we do in new ways. Thank you once again.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Jackson

  • Phonics Booster Club

    Funded Feb 2, 2022

My students and I would like to state, "We appreciate you!". Thank you for the donation you have made to our project. It has helped me to be more strategic in my lesson planning. It has given my students more activities to help them become better readers.

I am very pleased to inform you that the kids are loving the lessons from our new phonics books. They are now able to decode unknown words more easily when they are reading, which has increased their reading fluency speed.

They are thrilled to participate in activities, such as the "Tap it, Map it Graph it" activity which helps them bridge the sounds they hear with the letters they write down to form words.

Once again, we would like to say Thank you for your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Jackson

  • Rolling Cart to the Rescue!

    Funded Dec 1, 2021

Thank you so very much for donating to "Rolling Cart to the Rescue!". Receiving the cart has made such a great impact on how I service students at my school. I am now able to service more students efficiently by carrying more materials to their classroom for push-in intervention.

Previously, I was limited to the amount of materials I would take to the classroom due to the fact that I am across campus from the main student classrooms and could only hand carry a few items. I am able to now have "Stories on the Move" days, which I provide service for the whole classroom, not just my intervention students. This is a day where I fill up my cart with various books the students have not been exposed to previously. A book is selected by the students; I then begin an interactive read-aloud. This gives the students a chance to think, talk about and respond to the story.

The students have been so excited for me to actually work with them inside their classroom. Now, anytime they see me with my cart/bag, they are constantly asking me if I am coming to their classroom. Once again, thank you for taking the time to read about my project and making the donation. My students and I appreciate you.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Jackson

  • Gaining Knowledge Through Inquiry and Research

    Funded Jan 30, 2012

My class and I would like to thank all of you for your generous donations. My students enjoyed using the encyclopedias for research and "D.E.A.R." time. "Dear" stands for drop everything and read. Instead of reading a novel, the students began requesting to read the encyclopedias. As a teacher, I am very please with my students success this year.

Our school is facing a budget crisis and without your help, my students would not have had these vital resources. Thank you once again.

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Jackson

Charles Barrett Elementary is a low socio-economic urban school located in one of the smallest and poorest communities in Los Angeles, California. It services the needs of socially economical disadvantage students from grades K-5. I teach a group of wonderful Kindergarten - 2nd grade students. Their eyes light up and smiles beam across the room when they learn something new. I do have students who struggle in learning many of the standards that are required for reading. I'm always searching for financial assistance to help me provide new ways to spark the creativity of their minds and instill in them the love of becoming life long learners.
