  • Integration for Mastery: Using art to show what I know!

    I can't fully express my joy, excitement, and thanks for your donation to my project. It is great to see that you share my vision for reaching and teaching children. In any student's academic journey it's important to have hands-on learning activities so children can learn in multiple ways. We also know, it is through those experiences that skills and concepts "stick".

    The tools that you have funded will continue to enable students to learn important skills in literacy. My students will have the opportunity to share their learning with others and be engaged in the interactive activities. In addition, they'll find learning fun and have a great time explaining their learning to their classmates.

  • G"ART"ning-Beautifying Our Learning Garden Club

    There are not enough words to express the gratitude that I have for your generous donation! The art supplies have elevated the discussions, interactions and work in our gardening class. Students have explored ideas of peace, environmental justice and community as they worked on creating peace panels for the banner and the pavers. We did several of the projects over several weeks, so students that missed a day, they were instructed by their classmates. Giving each other helpful hints around what supplies worked better than others, or how not to use too much glitter, stones, or paint.

    As a Title 1 school we continue face budget cuts, loss of programs, as well as losing other resources. As you may know, in many schools like my own, the art programs are dependent on classroom teachers. To have this opportunity, to integrate art and gardening was important to our school's enrichment program as well as to the individual learning of my students and development of my own practice.

    Several students that were not involved with gardening have expressed interest when they saw us working outside with the paints and stencils. In the future, because of your donation, we will be able to use our supplies to support this interest and create an opportunity to cultivate community and stewardship for our environment.

It is fullfilling to watch students move into understanding using many different mediums of art.
