  • Mental Health Items for 10th Graders

    Funded Sep 1, 2024

Thank you so much for your generous donations!

These items will go a long way in improving the mental health of my students. Whether it's unwinding by playing a game of ping-pong or connect four, building a castle out of magnet tiles, or coloring in a calming image, I know that my students will enjoy some fun and relaxation.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Young

This classroom project was brought to life by Google.org Teen Mental Health Initiative.
  • Opening Opportunities and Expanding Experiences Through Table Tennis

    Funded May 7, 2024

I am so happy to announce that this project has been funded. My deepest thanks to each and every one of you, as this would not have been possible without your help. I cannot wait to share pictures of our students playing table tennis on REAL OFFICIAL table tennis tables!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Young

This classroom project was brought to life by The DonorsChoose Community and 24 other donors.
  • Breathe New Life Into Adams Street Soccer!

Thanks to all of you and your generous donations, the project was fully funded in a little over ONE week! I am so grateful for your help and I am excited to deliver the news to the team at our end of season party. I know they will be so happy and I can't wait to share updates when our jerseys and goals arrive.”

    Mr. Young

  • HS Soccer Teams Need New Soccer Balls

    Funded Sep 7, 2016

Thank you all so much for your kind and generous contributions. Because of your efforts, the Adams Street Academy Boys Soccer Team had a successful season with 4 wins. Every game was hard fought and the boys were able to put their best efforts in because of the soccer balls and practice equipment you helped provide. Your donations also helped out our very first Girls Soccer Team as well, providing them with much needed soccer balls, cones, and practice jerseys.

From the time our players opened the boxes of equipment, their eyes lit up and smiles stretched across their faces (especially our goalkeeper who was very excited to wear his new orange GK jersey).

Next year promises to be bigger and better, and our Boys and Girls teams have a strong foundation thanks to your donations.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Young

Thanks to the generous donations of others in the past, we have been able to grow our in-house "soccer club" into an officially recognized Public Schools Athletic League soccer team. The growth of our program has also led to the growth of a new girls soccer program. So now we have double the soccer players, but the same amount of soccer balls. Moreover, many of our soccer balls have become unfit for use through wear and tear. I wish that our budget could cover something so basic, but as the new Athletic Director, I am working with a small budget that must be shared among 5 teams. Our hard working boys and girls teams need soccer balls that aren't coming apart at the seams. The new girls program will also benefit from sharing needed practice equipment such as cones and scrimmage jerseys. Hopefully you already understand the value of athletics in providing valuable lessons and opportunities for inner-city youth and can help many young men and women receive the equipment they need to compete, excel, and grow through sport.
