Comfy Couch 3
Funded Oct 21, 2019The comfy couch is one of our favorite spots in our classroom. This area has provided a comfortable place for my students to sit, collaborate, and work. During all whole group lessons, the students sit at one of the couches. With the addition of this couch, I am able to set up an open area where my students are looking directly at most of their classmates, ready to collaborate. I absolutely love the new setup!
During independent work time, some students choose the couch to sit and work independently. The couches provide a comfortable and quiet work space, meeting their needs.
During the afternoon time, as we finish up our day, students sit on the couches during our class meetings, while star students share posters about themselves, and while students show and tell.
The couch is a favorite in my classroom, not only for the students, but for me as well. Thank you so much for helping make our classroom a flexible space that meets the needs of my students.”

Mrs. H.

Funded Oct 7, 2019The comfy couch is one of my students' favorite spots in my classroom. This area has provided a comfortable place for my students to sit and collaborate. During all whole group lessons, one group of students gets to sit on the couch. With the addition of this couch, I am able to set up an open area where my students are looking at each other ready for discussion, instead of in rows. I absolutely love the new setup!

Funded Dec 4, 2018Thank you for funding my vision for my students. We love the Chromebooks and use them multiple times daily. First thing in the morning, a group of three students uses the Chromebooks to help with intervention and growth. Those students are using I-Ready and Ticket to Read. Then at 8:30, another group of students uses the Chromebooks for I-Ready. Throughout the rest of the day, students use I-Ready, Ticket to Read, and take accelerated reading tests. The Chromebooks are utilized so frequently in our classroom. The Chromebooks provide great opportunities for my students' education, that otherwise wouldn't be possible. Thank you again for funding our Chromebooks!”

Transformation Brings Engagement
Funded Oct 2, 2018Thank you so much for funding my vision for my students. We have transformed the room three different ways so far, and the kids love the transformations! We have transformed our room into a glow room, rotating around the room to review addition and subtraction. We had fun with adjectives, transforming the room into a fashion runway, and we also transformed our room into a construction zone to review measurement, syllables, sentence construction, and addition and subtraction.
My students have gotten so excited and been engaged during the room transformations. They always ask when the next transformation is going to happen. I have more materials to complete a few more transformations. Thank you again for supporting and believing in my vision for my students.”

Funded Oct 29, 2018Thank you so much for funding our Chromebooks for iReady grant. We use the Chromebooks every single day to help my students grow in math! Some of my students use them first thing in the morning and the others use them daily for math rotations. I am seeing growth from the consistency of iReady due to having enough Chromebooks for my students.
The iReady program meets the students' needs, growing them in weaker areas and taking them even further in stronger areas. It also provides me with insightful data to help tailor my instruction as well. Without the Chromebooks, the opportunity for each student to use the iReady program wouldn't be possible. Thank you again for believing in my vision and funding our grant to support my students.”

Funded Oct 2, 2018Thank you for funding our take a seat grant and giving our class a new rug. My students love the rug! Each student has their own rectangle and boundaries for taking care of where they should sit. We use the rug daily for whole group instruction during Math and Reading. We also sit at the rug anytime a student has a show and tell, presentation, or for special events and celebrations in the classroom such as Apple and Pumpkin Day and our winter celebration. We will continue to sit at the rug daily until it wears out. The colors are bright and it is the perfect size for our gathering space. Thank you again for funding my vision for our classroom and making our space more comfortable!”

This classroom project was brought to life by SONIC Drive-In.Ready, Set, Glow
Funded Oct 2, 2018Thank you so much for funding our glow room grant. We have completed one transformation so far as a review for two-digit addition and subtraction and our CARE words for the week. My students absolutely LOVED everything about the day! The engagement when through the roof, and they were so excited about learning!
It was a complete surprise. So, my students walked in that day and saw glow day on the door and glowing balloons hung throughout the classroom. We began the day with a glowing word search using highlighters and the backlights. The students completed rotations that consisted of bowling, ring toss, CARE word practice and sentence writing, story writing, Jenga, and ball toss. They wore their vests and their glasses with their bracelets all day and didn't want to take them off when our day was over. I think I was as excited as they were!!
I plan to do at least one glow day per nine weeks and maybe per six weeks. I am working on creating content to use with the materials from the grant. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart for funding a vision for my classroom that has been very engaging, fun, and successful!”

Funded Aug 23, 2018The comfy couch and chairs is one of my students' favorite spots in my classroom. This area has provided a comfortable place for my students to sit and collaborate. During all whole group lessons, one group of students gets to sit on the couch and chairs. This group of students is chosen based on good behavior the week before. During the whole group lessons, the group of students sitting in our comfy spot collaborates with partners, partner reads stories, and solves math problems while comparing answers and strategies.
During independent work time, students choose the couch to sit and work independently. This space provides a work space that is comfortable and quiet, meeting their needs.
During the afternoon time, as we finish up our day, students sit on the couch and chairs as we have our class meetings, star students share posters about themselves, and students show and tell.

Funded Aug 23, 2018Thank you for funding our expeditions with Ozobots grant! We are so excited about our Ozobots. I can't wait to continue our journey, engaged in learning while we use our Ozobots.
We began by designating groups that each Ozobot would belong to. The groups each decorated their Ozobots so each would be original to it's group. This last Friday, we learned how to turn Ozobots on and how to draw correct lines- not too thin for their paths. We also watched them turn colors as they move over colored lines. Then we drew our own paths and watched them follow. Our last exercise with our Ozobots this week was to test the speed and direction. We will continue to educate ourselves about all of the features of the Ozobots.
After we are full of knowledge about how our Ozobots work, our groups are going to take an expedition across the world. They will travel across three continents and have a set of expectations along the way. The groups will then present their paths and we will watch their Ozobots perform the expedition. I am excited to take this journey with my students. They were so excited about learning and engaged with the Ozobots. Thank you again, from the bottom of my heart for making dreams in the classroom come true.”

Funded Jul 28, 2018Thank you so much for funding our Breakout kits! My students are so excited to use them! The breakout kits have been a huge hit! They have heightened engagement in my classroom and provided opportunities for collaboration. I am thrilled as a teacher to be able to present and review standards with my students utilizing such a creative tool!
Our first project was to get used to the kits themselves and how the locks work. So, we did the If You Take a Mouse to School breakout. The mouse broke into our classroom and hid our school supplies in the breakout box. The students were broken up into groups and each group was in charge of finding and solving the clues to open one lock. There were a total of five locks. They were able to break out with a little less than thirty minutes left on the clock. My students were so engaged and collaborated very well together to solve the clues. The teamwork was amazing!
The next breakout I plan to do with my students is a review of mapping and continents. This time each group will be in charge of all of the clues and all of the locks for one breakout kit. I look forward to engaging my students in a review of the skills we have been learning these last two weeks. Thank you again for supporting my vision to engage my students in a fun way to learn and review.”
